Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer has issued a short response for some fans who experiencing aiming issues in the recently-released Playstation 3 exclusive, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
I didn't even know there were aiming problems for some people. Didn't even notice. Guess I just adjusted. Edit: @ BlackMask Yeah, single player. Patch in a day according to the ND forums.
Yeah, the aiming felt like U2 to me.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to switch which shoulder the camera looks over. Didn't it used to be L3?
Hit start and there should be an option to turn this back on somewhere in there.
I'll try that. I just looked in the manual, and it says L1+L3, so I figure it must be a setting. Why the H would this not be on by default? Crazy.
Its in the options menu from the main screen, turn on/off ability to switch shoulder aim, tbh it should be on as default but meh
@ cgoodno, The aiming doesn't feel like U2. I had to turn the sensitivity way up to nearly maximum because the aiming feels a bit washed out. U2's aiming was a bit tighter.
@BattleAxe: you'll note I said "to me" whereas you stated your opinion as fact. Now, I base my opinion on the fact that I played U2 again just this weekend to prepare for U3, and it feels the same to me.
This is good news for me. I was getting really negative about my aiming skills. I just kept telling my wife that I'm starting to really suck at aiming.
haha im too hooked on the hand to hand combat this s#!t is crazy good I wanted more hand to hand so im happy. I kinda just adjusted to the shooting. But i think when I play on crushing and online im gonna need to change the settings. I hope this patch dont make aiming too easy and also aiming from the hip with the ak 47 at close range is a bit over powered. It takes more shots to kill aiming down sites. It seem like aiming from hip with ak = automatic headshot.Thats the only gun I experienced that with
the aiming in the SP is stiff. i haven't compared it to U2's SP just cause i haven't played U2 in forever. it's worse cause the MP has had perfect aiming since the first beta and then those who got the game on day 1 play it for the SP and it's aiming is just bad. it's impossible to make a circle motion while holding L1.
I haven't noticed in single player but I jumped into the MP last night and couldn't hit the freaking floor. I was never good at UC2's MP so I just attributed it to that. I'll have to stick to UC for SP and Battlefield for MP.
I disagree. The aiming is too slow and Elena looks Asian or her eye lids got attacked by wasps.
The reviews never mentioned it, besides Eurogamer
Never mind it will be sorted
there was a problem?
All I know is that aiming feels much stiffer compared to UC1 and 2, I tried with high sensitivity and that didn't really do anything.
I have the same problem. The game is fantastic and I just got to chapter 6 but I'd love it if the aiming was more like UC2, not so stiff.
Yea, i was suprised to, upto chapter 9 or something, and throughout the entire game I was missing so many shots, which was weird considering the smooth aiming in both 1 and 2. I hope they patch it asap, but aside from that, FREAKING AWESOME GAME!
I did that too and didn't really do much for me. Aiming and shooting is still harder compare to UC2.
Lack of smoothness, that's the problem for me. Still a great game but I prefer if they correct the little issues...
Stiff aiming really? Wow, I put my sensitivity all the way down lol . I do just fine.
Yeah, I don't know if thats intentional or not but to me it feels sluggish compared to UC2.
All the way down? Weird.... I had to turn it all the way up because it didn't seem as responsive as Uncharted 2.
Haha yeah i know. I keep my sensitivty all the way down because i dont like my reticule jumping all over the place.
the aiming does suck. U2 had far better aiming. guess ill adjust
lol. I'm sure you will.
Still GOTY at least for me
Yeah somethings off. U2 felt better. Hope they release a patch before I start on Crushing difficulty. I've got a feeling it's going to be much harder this time around.
How did this get so hot so fast?
It got here because a PS3 game has an issue with it, so N4G flocks to it. Been like that for years.
Its the same for every system out there a problem rises with a particular system and its posted as news and a bunch of kids start whining.
Aiming seemed fine to me, all games kinda aim differently but Uncharted 3s aiming is easy for me.
There is a big deadzone when aiming with L1. you have to move the stick half way left (or selected direction) to make the reticule move to the left. This means small adjustments to your aim is hard making precision aiming harder than it needs to be. I hope it gets patched because I'm not enjoying the game as much as I could be.
lol they need to do something with the health.it takes way to much bullets to kill one dude.i might have to buy ak47 to see if it really takes a full clip to kill one dude because this is getting ridiculous
It takes 3-5 shots, not aiming, to kill most guys with most weapons. The thing is that using some of the automatic weapons in long bursts causes a lot of spray outside of the hit zone. The body armor guys can be a pain if you don't have a hard hitting pistol or rifle. Shotguns on them aren't very good since it's a spray and it matters where you hit fhem as hits to the same body are will destroy thr armor in that area.
http://www.firearmstactical... Human bodies are pretty darn durable, and the only instant incapacitation is by nervous system. Assault rifles are obviously a bit different than handguns though, but similar principles apply. The greater percentage of tissue damage the greater likelihood of incap.
Aim for the head - kills them in one shot lol. I just finished the game yesterday, and I got all three headshot trophies in my first playthrough. It's usually the part that sticks out anyway lol.
Great news, this is probably my only issue with the game. It will be nice to finally pull off a headshot without having to fight the controls. Also, what happened to Uncharted 2's force feedback when you performed certain actions like a roll or stealth kill?
im talking about online
I sat and completed it today in one sitting and had no issues. Online was fine as well. 3 is my favourite in the series now. Bring on 4.
Is it me or did Elaina Fisher get a facelift? Oh wow the game just froze, beginning of chapter 10.
Here's the scoop guys. I know what's wrong. I compared UC2 single player and it too has the boxy aiming where diagonal goes horizontal. However, the deadzones in UC2 are much tighter. In UC3 single player you have to move your stick more to see your crosshairs start to move. It's not input lag, it's the deadzone setting built into the game.
i like the aiming and sprint , i got used to it , i have been playing the multiplayer for a month , you will too... if you are good at it and still compaignts then i'll accept your complaints but if you are sucks and complaign then it's a normal thing .... but i still prefer the beta...
they're talking about SP aiming. Nothing to do with MP. apparently its fine.
I thought it was because I suck. Good to know that it wasn't entirely me lol.
Yeah I was wondering why aiming felt so heavy. I went to the options and there was no options to change the sensitivity. I was like: >;/
uh... there is an option.
Its under camera. It took me a while to find.
Thanks. Lot more helpful than Ziggurcat at least ;)
Well it seems to me that on here, the ND and Neogaf forums that this is actually an issue. To be honest, this problem, the fact that you can't rewatch cutscenes in the library has spoilt this otherwise incredible game. It pains me to say it because I'm a massive UC fan - but to me, the aiming issue really shouldn't have been present. If it was intentional it shouldn't have been changed. The aiming was pretty much perfect in UC2 - why make it worse?
I agree, at first I thought maybe it was just me. But now seeing many people feel the sameway or having the same problem, I felt better. I have problem online as well, like my controller is locked or something. My character is running in the circle or my character will not move at all doesn't matter what I do. I tried too power off the controller and power back on doesn't work I had to pretty much quick the game and come back. But my DS3 have no problem play in story mode or other games. Is weird...
Cause it seems like they should've.
If they had a problem with it they would've. If you play a lot of games you tend to get used to re-adjusting on the fly. Even going back to COD feels very loose and slippery for me after I haven't played for a while, and that has generous aim assist. The game is still easy on normal, it feels like there's less L1 aim assist a la Killzone, but you'll adjust and be clearing rooms in no time, even from the hip. Unless you really suck I guess, but I'm not sure if that's possible as the hit zones are very generous, ammo is plentiful and melee is a beast.
I didn't notice any issues... The games off the chartz!
The aiming is a little stiff. Not a dealbreaker by any means but a patch I think is necessary.
Oh good. I thought it was just me. I've tried messing with sensitivity and it doesn't seem to help any. The aiming just does not feel smooth. As someone mentioned above, it seems to be only when aiming with L1. Blindfiring seems fine but when you zoom in, its all kinds of messed up.
It's only addressing single player, folks. If you didn't notice it feels like dead weight, even with the sensitivity all the way up, I suggest you play online or go play Uncharted 2 and see the huge difference. It really affects the harder difficulties for obvious reasons. I hope it's fixed before I finish the game.
Wtf r u guys serious the aim is fine yall hate on uncharted 3 find something to complain about dont play the gam e greatest game ever no complaints frm me 10/10
Stop being a fanboy for once, no one is hating the game. We love it as much as you do. But the problem do exist for some people, myself included. Aiming might be fine with you doesn't mean is fine with everyone else. That's the only thing I wish they can fix it, other than that I love everything about the Uncharted 3.
I really enjoy U3 but the aiming in SP in 2 was tops. U3 does seem stiff when comparing it to U2. They fix this issue and I for one have found my favorite game of all time in U3. Sorry Dark Souls :/ you're still number 2 for me this year :) EDIT: I experienced this problem with one puzzle in the chateau where I was frustrated walking too far over tiles. I'd guess the dead zones are too large on the sticks.
The game feels like Uncharted 2 again which makes me happy. UC2 is my favorite game so some of the changes to 3 had gotten me a little upset.
The aiming on mine felt different too, a lot of damn recoil and it feels like I'm carrying a 100 pound weapon all the time (fix the aim movement and add the cut scenes on the bonus gallery's and you got a masterpiece).
and that also has aiming issues as well as hit detection. I was shooting a guy with the AK and melee'ed him, then he turned around and hit me once and killed me. Then I would unload an entire clip in someone just to have them draw and shoot me with 4 shots to kill me. After 20 minutes I shut it off and went back to Battlefield 3 because the MP sucks. Thank GOD for BF3 and MW3 next week because the uncharted beta was better.
I played the multiplayer too quite extensively, I actually experienced none of the issues you've experienced. I haven't noticed any aiming issues, the auto-aim is very slight. If a guy ever turned around and 'hit me once' that lead to a death, it was because i had already been shot or hit and was still regening back to full health. 4 shots to kill? Only happens if they get a head-shot, which are very difficult in UC3. Level up a bit and get the M9, the AK tends to bounce around too much, so you're actually missing when you're 'unloading a clip' into someone.
Yeah I thought that too Rob but that wasnt the case. I actually spawned near the guy that I was shooting so I wasnt injured already. I was in the beta and enjoyed the hell out of it. I actually had a 14 kill streak in it, but some how this has been tweaked quite a bit. I was really looking fwd to it too, but I could care less now since the other games have been released. thanx for the advice though
This is like Killzone 2 all over again
hahaha tell me about it dude...
What is with people this gen, complaining about milliseconds in response time? I think CoD4+ spoiled everyone. I have no problem adjusting to adverse control schemes/delay times - I wonder why others do. I completed Uncharted 3 on hard and didn't notice the issue. Yea, I actually played the old tomb raider games (very slow response time), and thought they were fine. A controller is always going to have some latency, there's some in the tv, there's some in the wireless, there's some in the system - we are a long ways from being 1:1. If we're going to tear down Uncharted 3 with response time, we should throw batman, gears, portal2, and battlefield into the mix - I'm curious to see how they do.
Uh, dude, if you are pushing buttons and there is a noticeable delay, that is something worth complaining about. That essentially breaks a game. You didn't notice an issue because it's not effecting YOU. Look up the video around here of someone demonstrating the problem. No one is talking about your average console game's unnoticeable latency, we are talking about very noticeable latency in one game, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it at all. No one is making up phantom latency.
I know it doesn't effect ME - I saw the video. I wonder why it effects others that's all. Don't get me wrong I would prefer better response times, but I'm well aware of the trade-offs necessarily to run at 60fps with low latency on old PS3 hardware. Keep in mind we're talking about 'better' response times not 'perfect' response times. Hopefully naughtydog can fix the issue, somehow i'm not thinking it's very likely. Hopefully the next-gen will make 60fps standard and CoD like response times the norm. In my opinion though, for now I'd like to see more detailed graphics, and be wowed by what UC3 accomplishes. My comment reflects an opposing viewpoint, I don't understand the big fuss about a little bit of controller lag. When they fixed the controller latency for KZ3 from KZ2, it didn't make for a better game -remember that. There are other parts of a game that supersede control lag.
