Unnamed Protagonist of GTAV Bears Striking Resemblance to the Star of GTA: Vice City. Decide for yourself in this side by side comparison.
It could be!!
+ i think i saw CJ in there running after all it is in LS so you never know edit @ below idk dude i only saw the trailer once so idk could be wrong
Definitely wasn't CJ. I thought the same at first, but managed to pause it at the right moment and it's someone else. Hope he shows up at some point.
I passed it too he really didnt look like CJ :( But CJ is somewhere in the city unless he moved (although it wouldnt fit the story cause he was back for good) or if they killed him off. Tommy Vercetti vs CJ for Los Santos territory would be awesome :D
It didn't sound like Ray Liota, and if they use Tommy Vercetti but no Ray. Disappoint!
Ray burned his bridges with Rockstar, after bitching about how he would have charged them more if he knew how big VC would be.
Liota is a d**k. Crappy actor, and yeah, he always makes himself sound like a tool, especially when he said that about VC.
Hell no. He'd be 60 if the new GTA takes place in 2012. Don't wanna play as an old geezer, and if Rockstar is going for the realistic approach again, I don't think it would play out well given his age. I don't want to go through limited capabilities because Tommy boy has Arthritis. More likely a background character.
oh man seeing Tommy this old bring tears to my eyes(if it's truly him)
from the looks of it, it is an old geezer they are showing
What's wrong with playing as a geezer?
Snake is younger than Tommy....
And who could forget this guy?
Nothing if you're gonna enjoy getting calls on your cell phone from you doctor telling you two have to hang out to discuss your gout.
Was talking about this on Google+. I was thinking it may be his kid or someone all together different. If it IS Tommy talking, he would just be saying how he came to SA, doesn't mean you are playing as him. The Trailer is after all still a TEASER.
It showed the protagonist (whoever he is) driving and robbing something in the pest control disguise. So I believe he is the protagonist if it is Tommy Vercetti. It does fit and does make sense if you think about it. The guy in the trailer clearly has some gray hair coming in. If he was around 20 something in the 80's, then he would be between 40-50 years old, and it fits. I have known some seventy year olds that are in just as good of shape as people in their forties. I think if it is Tommy, this will be one hell of a game. Actually it looks like one hell of a game anyway.
@fragmntagm I agree, I'd be happy playing as 40-50 year old tommy. I hope I can shave his head and name him heisenberg though.
JTX, nice reference. Would be sick to have a skinhead Tommy running around! My favourite GTA protagonist in the series.
Thats a good point. We actually don't know if the person speaking is the protagonist. It could be that he is a main character but not the player character. This character seems to already be rich, which would be a different approach from other GTA games where the story is a rags-to-riches tale. Everything you do in GTA is to raise to wealth and status, and if you already have those things why would you do all the crazy stuff you do in GTA? It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. I'm not sure if I want to play as a middle aged rich guy...
i love it that we might be playing as a middle aged man
Haha, well, we are* gonna play as a middle aged man. It's just up in the air about the name. And yeah! That's one of the reasons I loved Kane and Lynch. You always play as 20 something handsome guys or girls. It's so rare to get something else. Jeez, I can't wait.
I hope its a middle aged guy like older Tommy.
ima wait for more info on the lead character,
Please let him be the protagonist.
that would be awesome! i just hope the rummors of it being 100% digital are false
Tommy Vercetti was born in 1951. That would make him 61 years old. It's not Tommy Vercetti you're playing as. He was already 35 years old in Vice City, not in his early 20s. Simple math eliminates him as the protagonist of GTA V, which is clearly set in modern San Andreas. Another much more plausible theory is that the protagonist is Claude Speed, the silent main character from GTA 3. I'm not sold on it, but it makes much more sense than it being Tommy Vercetti. Especially with it being the 10th anniversary of GTA 3, & a limited edition Claude Speed figure just coming out. I'm hoping for an entirely new character. Rockstar has proven that they can create engaging leads most of the time, so I am looking forward to a brand new character. I wouldn't mind cameos previous characters, but let's move on.
Plus he talks about moving because of the weather. Miami is similar to SF, if not better, no?
You're right, simple maths eliminates him... Not anything else. Because games arent able to have an old protagonist. Simple maths doesnt allow it. Some one must have found a loophole in simple maths for these guys though; Sam Fisher was born in 57, making him over 50 years old in Conviction, and in his 40's for most of the series. Master Chief is in his late 40's during the the Halo trilogy. And of course, simple maths doesnt apply to a rapid aging man, so Snake in MGS 4 doesnt count.
Master Chief is an extensively enhanced super soldier who spends a lot of time in cryo. His age is practically irrelavent, & he's still nearly 20 years younger than Tommy Vercetti would be. Sam Fisher is a lifelong soldier who has kept himself in fantastic physical condition. Also, he's almost 10 years younger than Tommy would be. Significant. Tommy Vercetti, while a badass, is just an extremely resilient psychopath. The voice in the trailer doesn't even really sound like him, & the older man we see close up appears to be around 45, not 61. Why can't people let it go? Tommy was an awesome character, but he doesn't need to comeback as the protagonist of GTA V.
Im sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I dont think the character will be Tommy (although a cameo would be cool), and I agree that a old guy in a GTA game wouldnt work very well. I was just making an observation based on your maths comment. Personally, Im hoping for a fresh new character, preferably not a minority or immigrant.
Save it for next gen .
