Looking back to the Animated Hi-Jinks of the Disney Pixar Cars Games

Paul writes: "If you are going to watch an animated film, it really has to be one of the Pixar ones, and the finest of those films that feature living automobiles is the Cars franchise. My son and I loved these films, and as you can imagine, the money making machine of the games industry wasn't slow to catch on to the possibilities of a Cars-based video game (or two or three or... ). So, come with me to a world that was dominated by the animated hi-jinks and the racing based fun times of Cars."

Do people still care about gamerscore?

The_Jackel2215d ago

gamerwhat? lol its like trophies/achievements i dont really care about them but then you have people that go nuts for them and try to get them all

PurplePeopleEaters2215d ago

Im sure there are people who do....

GamesMaster19822215d ago (Edited 2215d ago )

Of course people do it gives anotherwise game you paid all that money on more lease of life more reson's to replay and experience stuff that you might not of seen otherwise. I always play my game's the way i want first to experience the story then if i really like it i will go for all the trophys/Achievments.

letsa_go2215d ago

I was talking about gamerscore though, not achievements...although I agree with what you are saying. I agree that they give you something else to work towards once you finish the game...but do you care about the score you get from it? Like, my gamerscore is 27161 but does that matter? Do I get anything for it? I remember last gen people were trying to get the highest score, but that doesn't really seem like a thing people do anymore. At least from what I have seen.

Ra3v3r2215d ago

@letsa_go

Gamerscore now earns you money on the rewards site. I've made a few quid and I'm not even an achievement hunter.

Null19802215d ago

I game on both, but I have to say that unlocking a Platinum feels like much more of an accomplishment. To me, it's my gaming legacy. Someone can look at my list and see the games I really loved, which games I was willing to push myself to ace.

I never got into superficial buffing of gamerscore or trophies, like for instance, Greg Miller formerly of IGN. I'll never forget his Platinum of Hannah Montana the Game JUST to get a Platinum. Haha. Just... no. For me, only games I really enjoyed.

cfc832215d ago

They're alright. I've never set out to get points or achievements though. It's just quite good they're there.

zerocarnage2215d ago (Edited 2215d ago )

There are those that go nuts for gamescore, I myself used to be a gamerscore whore but no more, I just play games and if the score and achievos happens then that's it, I won't go out of my way and spend hours/days/months to work on an achievo no more.

On Xbox, dno about PlayStation, there is even a leader board for gamerscore that is updated every month on who brings the most score in. So yeah it's competitive enough I spose.

Even looks like Microsoft are changing the rewards again, well at least the name from Xbox live rewards to Microsoft rewards, makes it sound a bit more universal for all there devices they're on.

Universal 082214d ago

I used to care back on the 360, on xb1 its not really the focus for the system so I dont care other than to finish games

Kavorklestein2214d ago

I'd actually argue that the Xbox One is MORE focused on achievments.
Games have trackers, rare achievements, global percentages, competitive leaderboards for gamerscore, and integration with tru achievements.

It's more about gamerscore than ever before.

Definitely. The Witness is one of the best games this generation and Syndicate is a lot of fun. Both GWG and PS Plus are actually great this month. It's nice to see that both services are consistently offering great games that people really would like to play now because they've both had some rough periods.

PhantomS422215d ago

Haven't play Syndicate so it'll be nice to finally check that out and Dead Space 2 is amazing so not a bad month.

SkippyPaccino2215d ago

Xbox definitely has the edge this month...

GamesMaster19822215d ago

in my opinion as a mainly Playstation player this month's games i think Xbox win's.

Sweet. Don't own The Witness.

coolbeans2218d ago (Edited 2218d ago )

So you're telling me there's a chance I'll see you on XJuan? :P

Christopher2218d ago

Not likely for a while. Far Cry 5, Tera, Ni No Kuni 2, then maybe The Witness.

Oh I'm Def gonna play Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Never played it before and I've heard good things about it. I love puzzle games too so the witness looks fun.

Palitera2219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

I'm curious about The Witness as well. But Syndicate... Damn... It's one of the reasons the last AC is so good. Syndicate is plain AWFUL, worst AC I've played by far. They realized how bad AC games were turning and gladly decided to take action.
But try it... It's "free" anyway...

lxeasy2219d ago

For me the worst AC game is a tie between AC unity and AC 3

DrewMetals2219d ago

You’re crazy, Syndicate was great. Not as good as 2 or Origins, but still really good.

Palitera2219d ago

Ixeasy, haven't played Unity. That said, yeah, AC3 was horrible, but still had decent combat and animations. In Syndicate the animations don't even hit the enemies.

UnHoly_One2219d ago

Syndicate was really good.

Better than 3 and Unity for sure.

I despised the combat in Origins, so I'd say it's better than that as well.

IamTylerDurden12219d ago

Syndicate was a bit dry. I always dreamed about the setting, but it was a disappointment. I actually liked the setting in AC3 better. The pacing was terrible in AC3, but the American frontier was awesome and the game was beautiful in its day. The King Washington DLC was a cool idea as well.

ShottyatLaw2219d ago

Syndicate was good. There is some clumsiness to some parts of it, but it is a big improvement over Unity and AC3.

It did take a bit of time to get going, so be a little patient at first.

IamTylerDurden12219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

I got Syndicate two Black Fridays ago at Walmart for $8. I got Unity last Christmas at 5 Below for $5. Both new, PS4 copies. You can typically find AC games dirt cheap at ideal times because Ubisoft floods the market.

The Witness is actually a great game to get on GwG. Recently, GwG has been lacking, but this is a good month.

timotim2219d ago

I don't own any of these so I'm looking forward to all of them. My 8 year old will love Cars 2, she's currently liking Pixar Rush a ton.

ZeroX98762219d ago

The Witness and Dead Space 2 are awesome titles!
I Hope The Witness gets on PS Plus eventually :)
