BioWare: Previous Mass Effect games just a 'preamble' to Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 is the culmination of the entire trilogy, according to BioWare Edmonton general manager Aaryn Flynn, to such a degree that everything that happened before is just a "preamble" to the third game.

"Fans want a definitive end," Flynn stated, "They'll be the judge of that ultimately when they play it and see how we do that. Certainly, what this game absolutely does represent is the culmination of almost a decade's worth of work for the studio and for Casey (Hudson) and his team in terms of exactly what we're trying to do with the game we kicked off almost ten years ago. They're working really hard to make it a real proper conclusion, something that's fitting to what they've worked on for so long, and what the fans are telling us they're dying to see."

Unfortunately it went from being a brilliant single player campaign in ME1 to wasting time and resources to incoportate a completely unwanted feature by fans in the form of multiplayer. I have no interested in Gears Effect Duty 3.

"Who cares what happened in the regular season? Now's the one that matters." Uhhhhh, mistake me if I'm wrong but wasn't Mass Effect sold on the premise that what you do in the "preseason" DOES matter? Should have seen this coming when you can spend all of ME1 romancing Ashley to only have her turn into a 2 minute cameo in ME2.

I guess screwing up Dragon Age wasn't bad enough, time to take it up a notch!

You are aware that a different Bioware studio is working on the multiplayer portion fo Mass Effect 3 right? Because if you actually cared to get your facts straight, you would understand that they aren't taking anything away from the singleplayer at all. It's the same team as the last two games making the singleplayer portion and another bioware studio making the multiplayer portion.

Christopher2398d ago

Your logic is flawed seeing as that "other studio" could have been working on single-player content instead of multiplayer.

I just hope it's possible to do the multiplayer content on your own (scaled for 1 to 4 people and not just 2 to 4). I don't have others to game online with, don't really want to anyway, but I would love to experience playing as other races and classes.

Forbidden_Darkness2398d ago

No, Bioware stated that the other studio is working on the multiplayer portion fo Mass Effect 3.

Christopher2398d ago

Forbidden, we know what they are working on. You claimed that because it is an external party working on it, then it's not taking resources away from the single-player game. Well, that's technically not true since they could be using this other studio to make even more single-player focused content. No matter how you look at it, resources are being used to build multiplayer into a game instead of spending them to add to/improve the single-player game.

"Everything has been building to this. It's like the Superbowl. Who cares what happened in the regular season?
Now's the one that matters." WTF happend to them, seriously... I'm starting to wonder if they ever had any integrity at all, or were they pretending the whole time.

Can't wait till all the 10's and 9.5's so complainers can STFU.

Blacktric2398d ago (Edited 2398d ago )

If you look at the profiles of most of the complainers, they all joined 1-2 months ago tops. Some of them joined like a week ago. Don't get mad just because some pathetic losers trying way too hard to troll the GOTY contender of 2012 by using Dragon Age 2 as an excuse.

aPerson2398d ago

They'll give it 9's and 10's because it's a good shooter, but a good score means absolutely nothing for someone wanting a great RPG-shooter hybrid like Mass Effect 1 was.

Sweet hanging for multi co op ,i hope the bring team deathmatch one day be nice to play as geth online. The first game was near perfect but with ME2 i didnt take notice of the story finished it still dont know what happened lol.

Noticeably_FAT2398d ago

I kind of doubt that. Honestly Mass Effect 1 was amazing, but had a couple of flaws as far as the mechanics were concerned. Then they fixed those flaws in Mass Effect 2, but forgot to actually make ME2 an RPG.

I have high hopes for ME3, I really want to import my perfect saves from the last couple of games and finish the trilogy off with a bang, but I don't know how that will happen with a bit of a rush job that ME3 looks to be as well as the implementation of online. I think Bioware has taken a few steps back with EA at the helm. I've noticed quite a downhill spiral.
