Here's the HD version. - http://www.gametrailers.com...
Is that mario sunshine ran at 30 fps and galaxy runs in 60fps with alot more special effects. I played and beat sunshine and it looks good but not as nice as galaxy. There is more processing power in the WII based on what ive seen in those 2 games.
Basically the same. Galaxy is slightly better. Guess the Wii kinda is a gamecube with a cool controller, and it goes to show that you don't need fancy graphics to have fun.
character models are the same but the environments in galaxy are more colorful and diverse, except for the water which looks better in sunshine.
It's a bit disconcerting though that a game made in 2007 looks only slightly better than one made more than 5 years ago.
What did you expect from a repackaged GameCube?
i don't think its pretty fair, you cant really see much on a small screen, and in the HD video the image quality isn't high so there goes allot of details.
a fair comparison would be on the same TV-set. and galaxy looks allot better then sunshine, i haven't seen anything like the lava boss in galaxy that looked as good in sunshine...or any fur-shaded character. or this http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii... even this boss looks better in galaxy then shunshine. http://www.siliconera.com/w...
Wii doesn't even make HD graphics, what are you talking about? This is more than fair.
uhh Galaxy looks only slightly better and you really can't see a big difference even with video's beign run side by side... heck Sunshine looks better considering it came out 5 years ago and looks almost identical to the best looking Wii game..!
....Any one who played both games @ home, can really tell there is a huge difference. Galaxy looks way better. this video proves nothing.
UMM I actually played SMG at my friends house and the only things that it does better is that it has better lighting judging from the Video in HD..I didn't play Sunshine cuz well it was on the GC...lol..and I didn't know any one who owned it... BTW im not dissing SMG it's a great game...but the only game worthy of me buying a Wii is SMB....!!!
Graphically it is probably close, but when it comes to the art aspect Galaxy blows all others far far away. THIS is the type of game you want to play on shrooms... it is beautiful. Oh, and after watching that i'm going to go play galaxies. :)
" I didn't play Sunshine cuz well it was on the GC" then how can you tell it has better lightning? your opinion is based on a flawed video. therefor you cant really say if one looks better then the other.
Dude did you actually read what I said...this what I sad before I even mentioned about not playing Sunshine..>>> "I actually played SMG at my friends house and the only things that it does better is that it has better lighting judging from the Video in HD." based on the two video comparison's in HD I stated that SMG has better lighting... So are you telling me that SMG leaped bounds over what Sunshine did on the GC years ago..cuz I don't see it.and I didn't play the entire game..so maybe that's why..!!
"only things that it does better is that it has better lighting judging from the Video in HD." there is more then just the lightning thats better, you just cant see it because of the poor image quality( in HD). my point is you should play them both on the same TV screen, then watching flawed videos.
The only difference I see is the lightning. It's better on Galaxy. Everything else is the same.
It looks better, but is it worth $250? Maybe they could have released a motion controller for the cube and we all could have saved a few dollars.
Wrong, promoting something that is already out in stores for about 5 years wont sell, especially not with the target audience nintendo has now. adding a new controller is like Eye-toy for the PS2, it will only have few games around it and thats it. Nintendo took the right step, with out it, there wouldnt be a nintendo, and the market would remain the same.
there has EVER been a game worth *Insert console price*? Seriously? I have yet to find a game so great i'd buy the console just to play that and no other game.
Sidar, that is just the problem... Remaking the gamecube with a new controller and in a different case can maybe help nintendo sell consoles, but it don't help the "old target", for most older gamers Wii is just gimmick... Some games are good, but the console itself is not worth buying, specially after playing HD games... Not saying graphic is everything on a game, but we don't have more 8bit hardware for some reason.
Who gives a sh** whether or not it looks better. The game play makes this game and the graphics aren't bad either. They use some snazzy effects throughout the whole game and it outshines Super Mario Sunshine in almost every way possible.
galaxy is the best game of all time.. lets start talking about heavenly sword..
What about Heavenly Sword..dude we are alking about Graphics here.. LMAO...plz do not disgrace the Wii...Heavenly Sword..one of the best looking games of all time..so far...I mean GOW2 a PS2 game looks better than SMG..!!
Hate 2 be a d!ck but mario is really old. When is nintendo going 2 invent a new IP.Seems like we have been playing mario 4 the past 30 years.Thats why gaming needs the innovators like sony, bringing new & exciting ideas.
lolwut? What was the last original, new, Sony made game that wasn't a sequel? Sony consoles basically live on third party support alone. Miyamoto has more innovation and good ideas in his little finger than the whole of Sony's computer entertainment division.
ok dude they have made alot of new IP's for the PS3 already RFOM Motorstorm Warhawk..and yes ppl..it may bare the same name but it' a totally different game... Lair Heavenly word Eye of Judgement and last but definetly not least the amazingly fun *UNCHARTED* So how many new IP's have nintendo created for the Wii buddy..?
Yes, Mario is too old. It's nothing but another sequal now. What we REALLY need are games like FF13, KZ2, MGS4, and GT5! Those are fresh new ideas!
"What was the last original, new, Sony made game that wasn't a sequel?" Uh, let's see how you responded. I've included the developers at the end to moot your point. RFOM - Insomniac Motorstorm - Evolution Studios Warhawk - Incognito Lair - Factor 5 Heavenly sword - Ninja Theory Eye of Judgement - Sony Uncharted - Naughty Dog Good job, all of those games bar one, you listed as "Sony's new IP" are actually not developed by Sony, but 2nd or 3rd parties. I mean hell, I could have just said "What was the last original, Sony made game?" leaving out the sequel bit and you would still struggle to find anything original. Not only are they all mediocre and is reflected as such in more or less any reputable review, the one Sony made game is at best described as a gimmick, which is rich coming from a Wii user isn't it? Lastly when I said original, I mean something that's quite different from what we've seen before. I'll be fair and give Eye of Judgement credit for being original, but all the other games are just cookie cutter action/shooting/racing games and do hardly anything new or revolutionary. Whatever your gripes about the Wii are, well it's true it's not regarded for it's graphics but it's inaccurate to say Mario Galaxy looks worse than a PS2 game. For starters the Gamecube was much faster and had better graphics than the PS2, and whatever little speed increase the Wii got, only makes it faster still than the PS2. While Mario Galaxy IS a sequel, it manages to be original and very different from any other Mario game, rather than just being a sequel. Wii Sports, although regarded as mini games and a pack in title, is also original. Wait, that's just 2 games made by Nintendo themselves that are more original than any Sony made game. Also remember that Nintendo is developing for 2 consoles while designing their third. There are a lot of good DS games that are arguably better than PS3 games. Go check out Zelda on the DS. It has original control style and puzzles based on it. Whatever. This is the sort of retarded response I expected from a Sony fanboy. I may be a fanboy too, but you don't see me mocking Sony because it's last gen console is still outselling it's next gen console, do you?
Other than the level designs are really beautiful.
When a soul calibur game is coming to the wii? Isn't it? I don't have a wii, but aren't you guys getting a SC game soon?
soul calibur on the Wii might be fun. As long as it's not all waggle like BLEACH. My 4 year old son even got bored of it after 15 minutes. Anyway Mario Galaxy is a step up. All props to Nintendo but they need to get Brawl out now!!
same graphics maybe slightly deiffrent art direction well i guess you can say it look a lil better buy mario sunshine was a launch game 5 years ago that came packaged with the system so......
So im watching the HD video, my wife walks over: wife: whats that me: comparrison between mario for gamecube and wii wife: thats 2 different games? they both look the same to me. Personally I agree for the most part, they could be the same game.
super mario sunshine SUCKED
In 5 years, they have managed to make good lighting..wow Nintendo is soooo innovative and they're the "best developers" right?...
I'm not making excuses for the Wii here but Mario Galaxy hardly has good graphics or even graphics that push the Wii. Metroid Prime 3 is a slightly better indication. However I didn't think Sunshine ran at such a good framerate. I played PAL Sunshine on 60fps on my Wii the other day and put Galaxy directly in after and the difference was so obvious it was like Sunshine was 30fps and Galaxy was 60fps. One thing you will notice is the slightly higher poly count in Galaxy and the textures are a little better, but it's nothing very significant. All in all, if this is all the Wii is capable of, then it makes me question my faith in Nintendo. I knew it was going to be low power, but barely any difference over a Gamecube is disappointing. Then again I think it's a question of motivation with Nintendo. Zelda Twilight Princess which was a GC game looked way better than either Marios, I think if they wanted to, they could have made it look a lot better, but Nintendo tend to get lazy. Prime examples are Mario Kart 64 where they used 2D sprites for the Karts and players instead of 3D models, or the Big Bobomb on Mario 64 is just a 2D image instead of a 3D object.
no comparison mario galaxy is the best mario game of all time..
God, it makes me realize Sony should just rip off that poxy wiimote and make a bunch of sh*tty mini games and crap sports titles for PS2. Give the non gamers what they want if thats what sells. Personally, it makes me a bit sick, sure Nintendo may be kicking huge amounts of arse, but wheres their money coming from? Not from us, the gamer, I can tell you that. Real gamers either have a PS3 or Xbox because thats where real games are made (non count the handful of Nintendo Games they will release in 5 years). I am not bitter at Nintendos success, I'm happy. Lets face it, one more faliure and it might have been the end for them, wheres now they can write there own check, but its a shame they had to turn there backs on us gamers to do it. Wii games arent about the games now, there about novelty, gimmick and a quick giggle. Thats why so many of our favourite franchises are skipping the Wii. Hell PS3 has been mocked from the start for having no games but I've bought about 13 or 14 in 8 months. I've got ONE on Wii. I would still like to get Mario (when it gets here) and Metroid at some time, but the fad has just worn off for me. Pretty much what sold me was the though of fishing in Twilight Princess but to be honest I think it was better in OoT.
the lighting in SMG is much better than in sunshine. also, the polygon count is higher in SMG too - you can tell by mario's nose, hat, and other features being much rounder in SMG than in sunshine. but the fact is that lighting is the most noticeable improvement, but that should not be dismissed. lighting is a huge factor in any sort of cg animation, just as much or even more so than resolution. light acting with realistic properties is a graphical effect that is real hard to accomplish, but definitely makes animations more appealing to the eyes. that said, smg looks amazing on my regular 22" 4:3 480i tv at school, as good as any xbox 360 game on that tv (because 360 games natively have a higher resolution, many graphical details are obscured on non hd sets) but i took my wii home for thanksgiving, and playing the game in 480p on a 16:9 widescreen 65" tv, and you'll see that the game has major anti-aliasing problems at that resolution on tv that big. i really wish i could see it on a widescreen 480i set that's smaller than 30". regardless, the game rocks, and the ingenious level design really comes out once you start collecting stars after 60.
Galaxy graphics look slightly better. I still love Sunshine though. It's the best (and most underrated) Mario game to date IMO. I haven't played Galaxy yet, though. I hope to play it soon at a friend's house.
it's disheartening that a game like mario galaxy looks only slightly better than a 5 year old gamecube game, specially considering that the amount of action on screen in Sunshine is a lot more than in galaxy.
That's a shame... well, for the idiots who bought a wii that is. Man, looking at 5 year old Ratchet and then seeing 5 years later Ratchet on the ps3...It's incomparable. Everything... Looking back at 5 year old mario and then this mario... Well, it's kinda hard to see the difference. "ha" Go get'em cheap ass people... Keep buying into last gen tech. Microsoft and Sony will no doubt love the roadblock you're putting up for them. Ya Stupid asses.
I happen to have both games. From my perspective, the main improvements to Ratchet & Clank are with the graphics. The mechanics of the latest one aren't all that different from the other ones, or any other action platformer out there. While exceedingly pretty and very fun, Ratchet & Clank doesn't measure up to Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy is an evolution of the series whereas Ratchet & Clank is just a continuation. Super Mario Galaxy is more open in that you get more control in where you go and what you do than you get with Ratchet & Clank. The linear design of R&C is its biggest drawback to me. With SMG, where you get to go and what you get to do is left up to the player to a much greater extent. Sorry, but in this matter you just don't know what you're talking about. The only grounds you have for comparison are graphical, but in terms of gameplay Ratchet & Clank doesn't approach Super Mario Galaxy.
Couldn't disagree more... What do you contorl Mario with on Galaxy? That's right... an analog stick. Same way we've always controlled him in 3-d space. MArio Galaxy's gameplay could've been done on the gamecube and we clearly see the graphics could've too. The wiimote isn't used for anything other than transporting and collecting. Those could've been resigned to other buttons and task on the controller. You've fallen into hype... sorry. R&C already showed us that the gameplay in Mario Galaxy is last gen... R&C 2 and R&C3 both used the spherical worlds as a stepping stone... So, you're without base here, Jackson. R&CFTOD is better in every area... It uses everything Galaxy does, only has CGI Pixare quality graphics to pull it all together... Mario uses last gen graphics and a already been there gimmick in gameplay. Thanks but you just got handed, Timmy.
but when it get's down to $150 I'll buy one
Those of you who say there is no significant difference in graphic quality have obviously either never played both games, or are crap-talking haters. By comparison, Super Mario Sunshine didn't know what texture and detail were. The truth is, SMG is such a beautiful game, that even if it was done in HD, it would look better, but it wouldn't be a huge step up from what it is.
i started playing SUNSHINE and it was okay.. looked pretty but didn't captivate me.. GALAXY.. now that i can't put down!.. its a lot better looking.. i can tell you that.. the detail in the enviroment can speak for itself.. character models are similar but the game is about enviroments. Also i didn't see any fur that was as good or even close to GALAXY in SUNSHINE.. did anyone fight the MOLE yet? OMG that thing looks so fuzzy.. i just wanna touch it... power to the GALAXY!
...Super Mario 64 > Super Mario Galaxy > Super Mario Sunshine
" but it don't help the "old target", for most older gamers Wii is just gimmick... Some games are good, but the console itself is not worth buying," funny, i'm one of the " old" target, yet to me it isn't a gimmick, and its word buying. there are enough " old " gamers that got a Wii some got disappointed and allot like it. Games are games, wether its HD or not. " Some games are good" like your statement is obviously declaring that there will be more " good" games, so why would HD matter anyway if they are GOOD?.
i wonder why i find myself reading a thread about the wii..... oh yeah im bored and at work but on topic no huge difference
