Tribune writes: "Smart phones, tablets, the Wii U. What do all of these things have in common? They can all be held in your hands. And more importantly, we use them to play games! Is the future of gaming in the palm of our hands?"
A gorgeous real-world Miraidon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has been created in Japan by the Toyota Engineering Society.
JDR thinks the gaming industry needs more licensed IPs. It's basically a cry for Firefly: The Game, and why not? JDR delves deeper into why more isn't adapted for the interactive screen.
Nah. Video games are their own thing they wouldn't be improved by leeching off Hollywood more.
Read the article and it gives no mention of the many problems prevalent with licensed IPs, such as games and dlc being delisted when their licenses expire, Adult Swim games being the most recent example.
Only if they're good, if its going to be a 2D sprite art game, you can get away with a small team and small budget. But if you're going to make it a 3D polygonal game, you're going to need a large team with a large budget, and often times these licensed games are quickly pushed out the door, unpolished, rough, boring, bland, snorefest at best, and downright broken at worst.
We have an Indiana Jones and James Bond game currently being developed by two veteran teams with I assume fairly sizeable budgets. Let's hope they turn out to be worthwhile.
A new Mad Max game to coincide with the upcoming film would have been awesome. I loved the first game, I'm guessing it didn't sell too well as they never bothered following it up.
"The Game Music Foundation are today very proud and pleased to announce an additional concert, circling back to the roots of Game Muisic Festival in Poland. It's all about the iOS for me.
I just think iOS games need more depth and they'd be better. Just saying.
I like Beau's comment on the article about the possibility of IBM making a gaming console. I think it would excel in the gaming world since they put out so much hardware. Hell, even the Wii and the WiiU has IBM parts in it. Why not it's own gaming system?
Imagine I-phone 5-6 (to provide more power and 5g network) being launched with an entire line of inexpensive video out devices with well designed/costomizable user interfaces.
Walk into the house, quick sinc phone with tv or monitor, and start playing games, surfing web, browsing through cable/netflix content, hooking up to any kind of service like steam, on-live, app stores, looking a pics n home movies from phone, social networks, shopping, etc- right on the big screen using ur phone as the controller/remote.
Plus no more need for land line internet or cable boxes or any of that crap(comes from phone).
Better yet these devices could be disigned to let multiple phones sinc for multiplayer type experiences. Then when it's time to go just walk away, the display of content shifts back to the phone and your on your way.
This is what the Wii-U wants to be but isn't because Nintendo can't merge its portable and home business model without losing a shit ton of cash. But Apple (along with others) can and will do this, or something similar :-)
I would love to continue my game from console to handheld but I wouldn't want it to be handheld and no console or cloud or what ever other way that allows me to play it on my tv..
