Uncharted 3 May Have Day One DLC Already on the Disc

Joel Taveras writes, "While reviewers have been giving nothing but glowing feedback to the Naughty Dog team for Nathan Drake’s latest adventure in Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, fans have been clamoring at the thought of getting their hands on the title. Some of the luckier (and not-so-patient) fans that have managed to find the game readily available in “mom and pop” shops throughout the country. And even though the games do come pre-packaged with a label stating that online multiplayer does not go live until 11/1/11, that hasn’t stopped some players from having a look around. Among their discoveries is something that is sure to upset some folks."

That's just the standard these days as much as I hate to admit it. Gears of War 3 did it, Capcom loves doing this, etc.

I'm fine with day one DLC...they have a few months after "finishing" the game and as devs usually say "May as well not waste time", but on the disc? That's low.

Those characters skins may possibly be unlockable using in-game money earned like in UC2 and UC3 Beta.
Although, they didn't have "shopping carts" next to them.... hmmm I don't know.

At least we know that no Offline content was held back as DLC that would take away from the actual experience.

Man whoever wrote this article has no clue what he/she is talking about. The MP skins are purchased from the in-game store. If it was the PS Store it would've said "Playstation Store." However it is just "store," thus it is an in-game store in which players use their in-game currency.

Also these appear in the OFFLINE MP. Thus there is no way it is referring to the actual PS Store since those who are playing offline obviously have no way to purchase them online.

This is really getting out of hand and straight up ridiculous. I won't be buying any DLC or purchasing the Hunter's pass(whatever it's called) because doing so is foolish. They plan in advance which content they are going to lock on the disc and release it as DLC. I refuse to get hustled like that so I'm going to plan in advance not to buy it.

JoelT2485d ago

Do you think this is what they listen to at Naughty Dog all day when they plan these things?

LOL sorry I had to, you were talking about getting hustled. It was too easy.

Abriael2485d ago

They seem just costumes though. Honestly, I'm not faulting them if they put him some pay-for vanity items for those that have disposable income for that crap. More money for publishers/developers that doesn't take anything worthwhile away from me is not a bad thing, IMHO.

achmetha2485d ago

it seems similar in a way to free to play far as paying for extras.

HardCover2485d ago

Did you read the article?

This doesn't sound even close to bad. The only people possibly losing are the ones who pay with credit for extra skins in a video game anyway.

And they're already losing by practicing that lifestyle, so who REALLY cares?

Outside_ofthe_Box2485d ago

Yes I did read the article. It doesn't change the fact that DLC ON THE DISC is absurd.

HardCover2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Because they planned it out ahead of time and didn't try to insult your intelligence by saying something like "these 3 generic skins took 5 months of overtime to develop?"

It's really not that big of a deal when it's something like this. If you want to stick to "principle," that's fine, I don't need to hear you be stubborn to accept that you disagree.

ironfist922485d ago

When even Naughty Dog succumb to these tactics, it truly is a sad day for gamers.

ginsunuva2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

OH NO! Three whole skins! OMG DUDE!

Plus the game has like 17 or 18 maps initially anyways. They wont ever hide more maps on disc.

CaptainMarvelQ82485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Are people already trying to justify this?
I love Naughty dog, they make great games but thankfully I'm not deluded, where this is going is unacceptable. When I pay full price i expect to see the whole package without one bit cut from the disc...Capcom may have started it but with developers as of late endorsing it makes them guilty too.

Collectors Edition's should be limited to PHYSICAL content.
On disc DLC is a blatant rip-off.It may start small but believe me,IT WILL get bigger with maps taken off the games and possibly other things.Don't believe me? Then please, tell me how did we even get to this state when people are accepting on disc DLC? Whereas if you had asked someone in the past generations about this kind of thing he would have laughed and said "yeah, right"

majiebeast2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Where was this outrage with the 7 DLC costumes of batman AC and the robin dlc? Is it because its not a ps3 exclusive?

hardandsloppy2485d ago

There actually already was tons of outrage due to that very reason for arkham city, everyone saying they'll wait for the game of the year edition. Sucks to be them, I'll but two great games, that they will have to wait a year to play.
