yes, you can, even because your blu ray will be worth squat from november the 1st. You may want to run though, before Gamestop catches wind of that :P

Decisions like these wouldn't be easily implemented if Sony kept a tight leash on the PSN like Microsoft does with Xbox Live.

So not only will $249 get you a brand new PS3, but it also means that you can go online, download say this game, and start playing, all at no additional cost.

This is perfect for newcomers who want to get a taste of what gaming on PSN online feels like, newcomers with little resources or just enough money to only buy the console - all without paying any extra subscription fee or buying any games at all.

This also makes me wonder why Microsoft doesn't do a similar thing. Their tight control over Xbox Live and how much content a game receives would make it hard for a MMORPG to receive frequent patches and other content. Team Fortress 2 anyone?

As much as I love my Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, it would be awesome to have a free to play game that is available to sliver/free account holders, or something similar. Obviously that would never happen! Come to think of it, is there a free to play game on the Xbox 360?

The point is a consumer jumping onto the console train for the first time would take all these factors into consideration before buying a PS3 or Xbox 360. Even more interesting if that consumer happens to be on a budget. Sure the game is 20GB, but they don't have to worry because even the cheapest PS3 has a pretty large hard drive.

@DA_SHREDDER - That's a trolling statement if I ever heard on but I didn't want to waste a bubble replying to it. EDIT: Nevermind dude, NOW I understand what your mean. My bad.

Anyway, I think this could be huge for those of us that wanted to enjoy it on the PS3 (since it was designed with the DualShock control in mind) but didn't want to pay subscription fees. This going free to play reignintes my personal interest in the title, and I'm sure I'm not the only one the feels that way.

Yeah I'll try it out. Nothing to lose really.

my 500gb harddrive says hi to that haha

guitarded772333d ago

My 750gb HD gobbles those 20gigs and farts out another 10gb just for fun. Yea!!! Nov 1st... of course that is also Uncharted day, so I don't think I'll have a problem waiting for the 20gb download.

Your 1,000,000,000 GB hard drive can handle anything....except 1,000,000,001 GB.
