Ve3tro: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Hands On Preview

@Ve3tro: "What makes Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary so special is the fact that it’s not just the original game with some extras.

The team at 343 Industries instead wanted it to be a remarkable re-imagining of the original game. But at the same time it was necessary to also consider fans of the original.

The development team was able to consolidate both by adding the ability to switch between original legacy and modern visuals.

This alone made it worth making this edition of the game a retail release, since the original version can be purchased from Xbox 360 Marketplace. "

The story is too old to be commented.

I was one of the people who actually stood in line overnight at Target to get the original Xbox on day one with Halo, DOA3, Project Gotham Racing and Oddworld. To be honest I was in line because of Oddworld:)

Anyway, after getting back home and putting in each title for a few minutes each I put in Halo and couldn't put it down, it was like nothing I had ever played before. Now that the years have gone Halo is a dead horse. I could not care any less about a series that peaked with it's first entry and has been crap every since.

Haha...oh yes, it's such "crap" that every game in the series has had an extremely positive critical reception and sold like crazy. Suuuure.

Just the way you frame your opinion makes it clear that your goal is simply to provoke people.

LOL @ Starchild hitting it on the nail..

I remember buying not too long after EGM (who was the THE power in in reviews) gave it 10s across the board.

It was exciting from the first level, but it wasnt until you landing on Halo that my mind was completely blown. There so many incredible memories experiencing Halo back then and it remains a special tie for me.

What I also remember CLEARLY was finishing the game and literally walking around like a zombie for days. There was NOTHING at the time that came close to that experience. The weakness of those launch Xbox games was made all too real after finishing that game.

I remember the absolute craziness of the midnight launches of Halo 2 and 3. By the time Reach came around, alot of older gamers were bring their kids to the midnight line. All of them like me have been fans since day one. The comraderie at a Halo midnight launch for me is second to none.

I've been a HUGE fan of the series and have made every midnight launch religiously. Anniversary for me has been like a dream come true. I love that they updated the graphics and look forward to experiencing it all again co-op without the splt screen.

Just my take..

Funny how people think it is cool to down play Halo, when the FPS they are playing today still can not match the world created by that series. Please name a FPS that has more memorable characters than Halo. They all copied the innovative online and controller implementation from Halo.
