A FAQ at the PlayStation Vita official site suggested that something was up with Game Archive support on Sony's new portable. Now we have full confirmation courtesy of Famitsu.
Do we really need handhelds anymore? I think the Iphone 4s has made this irrelevant. Games like infinity blade already have graphics comparable to consoles and once the Iphone 5 is released it's going to make the vita outdated and irrelevant. Why carry around 2 devices when you can carry one and have it more powerful and better supported.
In so many ways, Iphone 4s blows the Vita away. It's already irrelevant, but the Iphone 5 is just going to make that even more apparent. I definitely wouldn't waste my time on an inferior product like the Vita when the Iphone 5 is coming.
Well, 99% of iphone games suck. The few good ones like Soosiz, Tiny Wings and Fruit Ninja can be fun but I'd be hardpressed to play any of those longer than 5-20 minutes. Couple the low price-low playtime thing with no buttons (which kills most games since a lot beg for buttons and come up with cheap ways to replace them which is rarely fun) and you so rarely have an honest to goodness real game. Most are basically carnival games on the wii (which everyone loves...) but split up and cost $1. Which has its time and place sure. But you won't find Persona 4 and Call of Duty in that device. To each their own but God up above knows which is more useful to someone who plays games. Also, iphone 5 = $600. Yeah.
Yeah cause playing without buttons is sooooo fun!!!! /s
One thing people seem to be blissfully unaware of is a simple attachment with buttons on it for the phone. you could fit it in (landscape), like a cradle connected to the serial port at the bottom, and have any button controls you desire. Even looking at that BF3 simulator shows you that such a device is possible (the gun peripheral has an iPhone 4 attached to it as the holographic scope). Don't be surprised if the iPhone 5 is AS powerful as a Vita and sports a controller attachment, fully backed by 3rd parties like Activision and EA. I give it one year.
Haha, well played, sir. You may retreat to the forums now, your trap is set.
a trap? lol damn, it's almost impossible to tell if those are trolls or real Apple fanboys because they really argue like that and actually believe what the say... well played indeed
The iphone may get more powerful as it progresses each generation and be able to become more of a multi-purpose device but there are some things that hinders it as a gaming platform, one prime example I can think of is the controls. Yes there's a touch screen and yes you can imitate buttons and movement on there but for some games you need to have actual buttons and analog sticks inorder to enjoy some games such as FPSes or action adventure games. The PS Vita and 3DS are dedicated gaming handhelds and are targeted towards those that want to play games on the go along with the fact that they're significantly cheaper than buying an iphone and games altogether.
wow you two could easily win the iSheep-of-the-year award btw Sony has already stated that the PSV is not competing with smart phones it's an additional device you can carry with you in a daypack when you expect to be on your way a little longer
If EVER Ready at Dawn decided to release a God of War title in iPhone 4 or iPhone 5, that is the day where it will become apparent that smart phones sucks as a dedicated gaming device. Imagine Kratos moving on rails and the player can only control his attack on the touch screen.
"I think the Iphone 4s has made this irrelevant. Games like infinity blade already have graphics comparable to consoles and once the Iphone 5 is released it's going to make the vita outdated and irrelevant. " Umm not even close, while the iPhone 4S is no slouch an the iPhone 5's will not be any term of being Weak, It will not be as capable as the PSVita, Apple's iPhone will not be at least until the Iphone 6 to even catch the PSVita in hardware chipset, an even than it would not be able to match the PSVita in being able to be programmed to the metal. Look im not sleeping on the iPhones chipset, not at all. I just think your now seeing the Arm chipset's for what they are, not what you think they are. Example: iPhone 4s chipset is the Qualcomm MDM6610 which is the slight upgrade to the iPhone 4 chipset the new one runs a duel core 1.2 GHz. as for it's GPU SGX543MP2 GPU this is the exact same core GPU chipset that's in the PSVita but it's the 2 core GPU instead of the 4 core ver that's in the PSVita. the Ram is 512MB of system ram for the iPhone 4S which is the same for the PSVita but the PSVita also has 128 MB of video GPU Ram too boot. http://www.electronista.com...
let me see i have a 4G android phone and will get the beast call " samsung galaxy nexus " very soon and im excited to get it but ps vita will be my portable gaming machine for excellency , does my current phone have 2 analog sticks ? i dont think so , does my current 4g phone have psn accessibility ? i dont think so , does my current phone have remote play ? i dont think so , does my current phone have ps3 / phone cross play platform ? LMAO i dont think so , does my current phone have Uncharted , Resistance , Little Big Planet and other AAA games ? LMAO , nah i dont think so , i want to game " PROPERLY NOT CASUALLY " on the GO and vita will most likely give me that experience so yea some smartphones blow the vita out of the water in their own strenghts but you are delusional if you think gaming is one of them , maybe someday we will be able to game properly and get those AAA experiences on the go on smartphones but till that day arrives i will be playing on my Viita .
So, you two compare a 799 device with a 250 one? Right..
"So, you two compare a 799 device with a 250 one? Right.." I say let them..lmao Below is a breakdown of the iPhone 4S unlocked price / iPhone 4S price without contract: iPhone 4S 16 GB – $649 iPhone 4S 32 GB – $749 iPhone 4S 64 Gb – $849 http://www.iphonestuffs4u.c... so with the specs" iPhone 4s chipset is the Qualcomm MDM6610 which is the slight upgrade to the iPhone 4 chipset the new one runs a duel core 1.2 GHz. as for it's GPU SGX543MP2 GPU this is the exact same core GPU chipset that's in the PSVita but it's the 2 core GPU instead of the 4 core ver that's in the PSVita. the Ram is 512MB of system ram for the iPhone 4S which is the same for the PSVita but the PSVita also has 128 MB of video GPU Ram too boot. Not only does the PSVita has A) a 4 core CPU Arm core A9's also the iPhone 4S has a two core Arm core A9's..So the Vita has One free core on top of the other two for gaming over the iPhone 4S the 4th core in the PSVita is not usable by developer's for games. But that still does not take away the fact that there is 4 core A9 cpu in the PSVita. B)GPU : the iPhone 4S sports the SGX543MP2 GPU the PSvita SGX543MP4+ GPU the iPhone 4S is 2 core, while the PSVita is the 4 core ver with Enhanced functions embedded on GPU die C)RAM both the iPhone 4S an the PSVita offer 512MB of ram for system, but Vita offer's ontop of that system 128MB of Ram for the GPU. The iPhone 4 is a Phone chipset included The PSVita with 3G connection call also make an take incoming call's with Skype with your own in coming Phone number across 3G. Iphone 4S has built in storage but cannot add storage via external card. the PSVita has no internal storage but can Add more storage via External card. Iphone 4S price without (2 year contract)PSVita with no Contract but with storage card price added (japan prices). as it stands now: japan pricing for Vita but over internet purchase for the iPhone with no contract. iPhone 4S 16 GB – $649 PSVita 3G+ 16GB - $462 PSVita wifi+ 16GB-$397 PSVita in japan: PSVita: in japan $390(USD) for the 3G version $325(USD) for Wi-Fi in the US THE PRICE for the PSVita $299(USD) for the 3G version $249(USD) for Wi-Fi Japan storage card cost for PSVita: 4GB (2,200 yen, about $29), 8GB (3,200 yen, $42), 16GB (5,500 yen, $72), and 32GB (9,500 yen, $124). I could go further lets go to the 32GB ver's of each product. iPhone 4S 32 GB – $749 PSVita 3G+ 32GB - $514 PSVita wifi+ 32GB-$449 So if they want to pay for the iPhone over 2 years the above price with half the hardware in chipset functionality, with almost twice the Price of the PSVita an the iphone is not even dedicated as a gaming device..sure you can if you want to, but the Vita hardware wise wins hands down in chipset an most likely even in functionality due to A) Android OS Apps an Games will be coming ontop of the other software for the PSVita. B)the PSVita Is using the very same core chipset as the iPhone an that means those very same iPhone games will most likely be ported an will run as native app's on the Vita anyway.
You also have to consider that the Iphone, though the games are cheap, you're paying a monthly fee of at least 70 bucks. that sort of kills the idea that they save money. That's almost two Vita games right there in the monthly bill alone. Yeah, I'm good with my Vita. The Iphone is just a phone. nuff said.
Dedicated gaming on phones, no way man! Had my android for more than a year now. Got a few games for it, SHIFT - Angry Birds. Fun ? Not really ! PSP/PS3 and soon PSVITA, thats dedicated fun !
I own an ipad and the games are very limited on it.. I'd say 90% of the games on appstore are 5minuite noveltees that lack depth.. there's a few games like machanerium and Sword and sworcery which are good.. Ill be getting a vita too play Deep online gaming on a portable device.. the ipad & iphone in some respect will never acheive that..
