TGH: "Just yesterday Mad Catz has announced the rights to create a fight stick based on Namco's upcoming Soul Calibur V but now they have revealed images of the fight stick itself and boy does it look good."
I'd hit those buttons. Can't wait!
That IS sexy.. dayum
indeed looks smexy
I think its not half bad, however notice how it seems they are making a fight stick for every fighting game now? Used to be unique to Street Fighter? Its like they discovered a 'hidden' market.
well if you think about it fighting games have made a comeback of late. But they've usually made fightsticks for all the popular fighting games.
Looks like other Mad Catz made fight sticks. Selling a new faceplate makes more sense than new fight stick for most fighting games but it's more profitable to sell the entire fightstick with a new faceplate. Unless there are real mechanical improvements or change in buttons layout, makes no sense to buy another one with different game theme.
All good points. I use to collect these sticks. I had 6 of them but recently sold two. Now I have two for each console and I'm not buying any more. This is a new cabinet design but for once I'm not going to bite. Rather put the money towards actual games instead.
But looking closer at the stick, it looks like they changed more than just the face plate. The bezel has a soul calibur feel to it with the points looking like the tip of a sword, the casing itself has a transparent look instead of the solid black casing seen in every stick so far. There is actually some cosmetic changes while not major can warrant another purchase especially if you like to mod your stick, I can see someone line theirs up with some LED's since they will be visible through the case now. EDIT: Also didn't notice at first, but both end pieces are different colors the left is blue the right is red. Not saying these small things are worth the price of a purchase but at least its not the same black case like we've seen for SF4, BlazBlue, MLG, ect.
Are you talking about the 4 primary buttons layout? I saw that earlier but in fighting games, the buttons can be remapped. I always remap buttons layout for any fighting games. Street Fighter uses the grouped 4 primary buttons, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. Soul Calibur V uses the alternate primary buttons layout, 3 at the top and 1 at the bottom. Is there an official name for both layout styles? Interestingly, Tekken 6 fight stick for PS3 and X360 have different primary buttons layout. PS3 version uses the SF4 layout style while X360 version uses the Soul Caliber V layout style. Mortal Kombat uses a more unique buttons layout, a cross layout style.
I was reffering to the case end pieces. If you look at the case its like a transparent purple color. If you look at the left side of the case there a blue transparent piece and a red transparent piece covers the right side. Its a small touch but I like it.
Pretty cool looking stick. Anyone know if Soul Calibur has a competitive following? I've never heard of it being played in tournaments.
SC4 was at EVOLUTION, 2 years ago not sure about this past event, im pretty sure 5 will be there launch year and any year that it is considered a viable game for a tourney. The scene maybe small but those who stay with it are treated with consistent high-level play.
