considering a 2012 release is what Rockstar must be aiming for.

SilleGamer2486d ago

Yeah it's highly likely that this is probably what Rockstar is aiming for.

Release dates can change over time but this seems possibly legit.

September 2nd 2012 is a Sunday so I doubt it.

Im gonna guess that Rockstar plan to release this around April because that part of the year doesnt have many big releases.
GTA IV came out at the end of April so...It might be the same with GTA V..
Its all speculation until Rockstar announce something anyway

TheMysterion2486d ago

Doesnt max payne come out in april? I doubt it.

There is no logical basis to support this release date. It's merely a placeholder, nothing more. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if we were looking at a 2013 release date. Even if we were looking at a 2012 release it wont be September 2nd, most, if not all new releases come out on Tuesday (In NA). Unless the company is Nintendo.

I don't think Rockstar has ever released 2 games in the same year on the same platforms. Unless they don't see MP3 selling very well and that wouldn't be right for RS to think like that.

It would be nice to have Rockstar grace us with two releases next year. If it does release next year, they must know that next Gen consoles are upon us.

SilleGamer2486d ago

Hopefully the release date is reliable.

I have been waiting for this announcement for quite some time now! :)

Sept 2nd...very specific

Nate-Dog2486d ago

Hmmm it does sound realistic, crazy to think that it's under a year too. Of course it is just an estimate (at least I can't see Rockstar giving out a definitive release date already, then again if it is due out in less than a year or around that they've surely already put in a lot of work into the game) but who knows.

SilleGamer2486d ago

Yeah the announcement just came out of nowhere.

Seems strange that the listing was updated today following the announcement.

Maybe there is some truth in the expected release date?

MrBeatdown2486d ago (Edited 2486d ago )

I sure hope that's not true. September 2, 2012 is a Sunday, and while I'm not entirely sure, that doesn't sound like a typical release day in any part of the world, so that gives me hope that it's just a placeholder date.

I'm thinking May 2012, which to me, seems more likely, especially given the amount of time the game has been in development and how Rockstar has favored that timeframe for a while now. LA Noire's first trailer was released on November 11, 2010, and the game released in May. Seven months difference. Max Payne 3's first trailer was shown in early September, and it will release in March. Again, seven months. I'm hoping the same holds true for GTAV.

Dovahkiin2486d ago

They're releasing Max Payne 3 in March 2012 though, so i think it'll be later.

MrBeatdown2486d ago (Edited 2486d ago )

True, but Max Payne releases in early March. GTA could release in late May. That's a period of nearly three months. That's more than enough time to hype Max Payne, release it, then still have plenty of time to ramp up the hype on GTAV.

And Max Payne and GTA are two very different games. With two to three months between releases, one game won't necessarily cut into sales of the other. People buy more than one game a year and GTA won't drown out Max Payne just because they are from the same publisher. Rockstar should be worried more about competing games, like say Halo 4 if it releases in September like past Halo games.

And Rockstar has done multiple releases before, in a much shorter timeframe. Episodes from Liberty City released in mid-April 2010 on PS3. Red Dead Redemption released only a month later.

They tend to release GTA games later in the year. This to me seems plausible.
