Kotaku: Some people think this year's big PC releases, particularly the "next gen" Battlefield 3, will spur around $1 billion in sales of PC hardware. Having just spent $1300 on PC hardware, I can see why.
Nope, I've had my rig built since 09 and it's still far beyond what I need for BF3 on ultra. Me Gusta.
Yeah me too, I've had a 920 @ 3.4 since 09 and a 560 GTX, even with that, i know I won't have to upgrade till 2016.
You won't play Ultra with a single 560GTX.
I misread that part, but I don't really care about that, I just want to play.
My bro did, and he never spoils himself. Runs beta great, he's a happy chap
"Kotaku: Some people think this year's big PC releases, particularly the "next gen" Battlefield 3, will spur around $1 billion in sales of PC hardware" 1 billion?????? Thats a 3 month period for one graphics card company alone here's nvidia q1 from 2010, expect 2011 quaters to be even better! http://www.nvidia.com/objec... Now add in the ram companies, the case companies, cpu's, power supplies, liquid cooling, neon lights, fans, hard drives, ssd, ect ect....you're talking a 40 billion dollar a year indistry just for pc gaming related hardware.....before all the stuff mom's and dads and regular people buy. heck,.....look at just last years add in graphic chip market; http://www.slashgear.com/jp... you got over 17 billion just in add on gpu boards, this ain't petty console money here son, this is real money!!! and 1300 is a lot and not nessasary for bf3 in ultra unless your doing 3 monitor crazy resolutions! *edit, just read the australia thing at the bottom, yeah, that rig in the states could be had for about $600-800, kudos to you on your new build, but your revenue facts for hardware are WAYYYYY off! Maybe the fact you saw means 1 billion more than last year, not sure??
Built mine 1 month ago for Battlefield 3.. Here's my baby *__* Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Windows 7 - 64 bit 3 x EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB OC 872 - 1063 - 4008 Intel Core i7 2600K Quad - 4.8ghz 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance Ultra-performance DDR3 (1866MHz) Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler Thermaltake Release Level 10 GT Computer Case
You want the best version of the game looking its best then you need to invest. If you can't afford it, like me, then you hope that the console version provides a capable alternative. However, I will pick this game up after Xmas. My gaming budget has been spent for weeks now with Dark Souls, Batman, Uncharted and Skyrim. Something had to give and this time round it was Battlefield.
nope. im still rocking my ps3. im sure it will be fine for me.
nah, poor law student.
@bwazy. Babyclami Nice one mate, i gota edmit this game brought me back into pc gaming... Well partly and partly consoles but i have reason's mainly servers. From a person who started pc gaming back in windows 98 days i stoped some stage in windows xp because of situations. I have since built 3 computers for myself in last 2 years intel changing there socket sets didnt help. But this was going to be my last build for few years since started building years ago, my son aged 3 money's tight pc games cheaper o when i built my rig it was based on playing this game and hopfully futher titles at a decent level. My expense set me back about £1100 but that was base unit and some parys that wasnt needed really but had them in case future parts come along and its needed. Example 1000watt psu maybe overdose but who knows what happen in year or 2 maybe needed. I7 2600k helped not just for games but encoding extracting but again i could got i5 saved money. So i hope dice supports pc users and console users come to that, get most out of my rig Oh and this game supposed to use all 4 cores wow. How often that happen
Love the avatar as I was a proud Amiga 500 owner back in the 80's and early 90's. Commodore NZ even lent me an Amiga 4000 in '93 to generate some computer graphics whilst I was at tech. Afterwards they gave me an Amiga 1200...unfortunately that was only a short time before the collapse of Commodore.
Amiga was the DADDY of the c64 m8
Nope, I don't buy or build new PCs for one game, thanks.
lol what's with the disagrees? I've already got a PC built, I'm not building a new one for just one game thx...
Nope, im desperately trying to fix mine because it keeps shutting down with SLI enabled :( Why does this have to happen now!!!!!
That's why I've always been hesitant to go SLI. Seems like it does more bad then good sometimes.
Could be few thing's more power needed maybe? Drivers possible,or dodgy card have you disabled sli and tested both cards seperate. Even a poss that your express slot playing up but that not always the case. For me this is first sli setup ive had.
Yes and it feels great.
Upgrading to new GPU next week. Time to put the ol' GTS 250 to rest.
Wish i had the money. I know it's going abit overboard spending so much money for 1 game, but i did build a new PC for BF2 and i never regretted it. 32 vs 32 is the WIN
ULTRA for me. GTX 570 @ 720p
Just found a new guitar and amp so ive put my pc on the back burner till around xmas, music takes priority over games for me so ill just put up with the 360 version ,then all the bugs should be fixed by the time i get it on pc.
(off topic) Hmm... you need a teacher? :P I've been playing guitar for 3 years. Here's my YouTube channel, I have some covers. http://www.youtube.com/user... Btw, once you get hooked to music, you won't care for gaming like you used to (at least that's what happened in my case).
Yup, did it about a month ago.
Just put together a gaming rig a couple months ago and BF3 was one of the games I had in mine when deciding on the graphics card(s). I will be rocking BF3 in ultra settings with dual EVGA GTX 590's.
