The Greatest Multiplayer Game of 2001: Counter-Strike 1.1

MP1st's Fahed writes, "I grew up playing games from the original GameBoy to PS2, but I didn’t fall in love with gaming until I tasted Counter Strike. It’s when I got my first bite; I found out that I was cut out for the multiplayer world."

The story is too old to be commented.

I've never had the privilege of playing any CS game but I've heard a lot about it. I can't wait for the PSN/XBLA version.

CS 1.6 will run on, just about, any computer... it's still a great game and you should definitely try and check it out if you get a chance. Only downside is that the people playing it are all top tier, I think a lot of people moved to CS Source.

I loved the first CS.

I used to play it every day until the day steam came out and I got steam and could never get Counter strike to work again.

But later I got a new computer and Half life 2 and CS source and it workes fine.

"Or, when you enter the map ‘Assault’ with a teammate through the air ducts, with one squatting forward and the other backward to cover each other."

seriously? the air duct is instant death. all i do is shoot at the air ducts since bullets can go through anything in CS. cover barely does anything.

Those were the early days of my CS adventures. My friends and I didn't know what we were doing, so sneaking through the air ducts was a "tactic". Then we learned that the air ducts were like cardboard.

yea lol i dont why ppl bother going there. not even the walls outside are safe. especially if you think you are safe camping on top of the open garage door. they could just get up that bridge thats right next to it and just spray. if you played inferno then you know the infamous wall they shoot through near the bombsite on the traintracks.

I went to an internet cafe back in the day just to play Counter Strike. 3-4 hour sessions almost every time I dropped by. I haven't had so much fun in LAN battles since then. CS:S isn't too bad, but it can't match 1.6 in its prime.

Playing on a LAN with friends is the most fun I had with shooters.
