Exactly. When it actually boils down, the difference doesn't seem that big at all. Hopefully it will be on the big screen.....

Well i don't know if you watched it in full screen, but the detail that had been dialled back on the plant pot and the plant was absurdly huge- the geometry has taken a huge hit.

Dice will have probably reduced details on objects that are less significant to try and keep fidelity high as possible even without the pack installed. However still seems to me you really wanna be installing this. If you see the other rather crappy screenshot comparing, you will see the gun looks terrible, the characters blocky and the ladder in the background has no rungs!

Goodness knows what other areas might look like.

The only place i've seen noticeable difference was in screen shots...where entire things are missing...luggage racks in the subway, lots of different items missing from the table where you pull the cords...character models have different texturing too...

its easier to miss in action I guess...you can clearly see in the video when he goes prone that the little potted plants on the non texture pack version are laughable...

either way, not sure why anyone wouldn't install it accept for arcade owners...but then again...I seriously doubt someone that owns that specific sku is at all interested in the differences anyway...as they would probably be much more casual in the first place...

Yeah, I don't see it as this big issue at all. If you can't really see it side by side without looking for it, you most definitely won't notice it in motion while playing.

However, why would anyone expect hard drive functionality when they didn't pay for it?

You get what you paid for, and you didn't buy a hard drive. You can still play it, because the alternative is getting something like a Wii and then you definitely can't play it. I think it is a good trade-off.

Personally, I like options rather than not....
