Siliconera: While many Japanese video game studios are located around Tokyo and Osaka, Fukuoka is an emerging hot spot. Level-5, Ganbarion, and anime video game developer CyberConnect2 are headquartered there. CyberConnect2 made the .hack series and the dozens of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja titles. In this interview, CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama discusses Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations, the latest game in the series, and how passion pushes his company forward.
Developer CyberConnect2 confirmed the incoming closure of its satellite office in Montreal, Canada. At the end of July, it'll be shutting down its only other office beyond the main one stationed in Fukuoka, Japan.
The Montreal office opened in 2016, 20 years after the developer was originally founded. Its statement noted that the second office "led CyberConnect2 on a creative journey in the development of tools and cutting-edge techniques used in creating games."
No mention was made in the developer's statement about if it will offer any severance or transitional help to those about to be laid off.
CyberConnect2 boss Hiroshi Matsuyama has confirmed that a new .hack game is in development! in its 20th anniversary concert.
Yeeeesss!!!! I hope they vary up the dungeons, but I’m so happy this is a thing
I wouldn't mind some cleaned up remasters of the originals. Those are the ones I have real nostalgia for.
From Nintendo Everything: "CyberConnect2 has a pretty major game coming out in just a few weeks. The company has been known for working on major manga / anime properties like Naruto and Dragon Ball, but will soon be releasing Fuga: Melodies of Steel. In addition to being a new entry in the Little Tail Bronx series, it’s also the very first self-published title from CyberConnect2."
Good interview but I wish that he's ahve revealed something new about Generations. It's good to see that game companies are helping each other though, that'll just lead to better games.
