Battlefield 3 Install Sizes for Xbox 360 Revealed and Confirmed. Day One Update Live.

Thanks to some retailers selling the game early, a couple of our readers have put their hands on a full retail copy of Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360. While other reports have the PS3 version install clocking in at 2 GB, that is true and it is actually the same as the Xbox 360 HD-Pack. The PC version install size is actually smaller than that of the Xbox 360 and we even know the size of the day one title update.

omg, great news.. That means that the PS3 version does run & play from the PS3's hard drive after all.. Awesome! :)

I thought the game runs off the blu-ray disc with some textures streaming from the HD.

Criminal1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

I'm quite sure that it's not the case. Unfortunately, you won't be able to download the game on the PS3.

Edit: No the 2 GB install is not what I was referring to.

"That means that the PS3 version does run & play from the PS3's hard drive after all.. Awesome! :)"

What I mean is that you'll play it off the disc plus the hardrive at the same time.

Battle Torn is right, in my haste to get the story up, I made an error. It's all fixed up now!

JaredH1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

So since the day 1 update is already live I'm guessing reviews won't be days passed release like people thought.

gamingdroid1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

It seems you are misinformed, it seems the PS3 version only has the texture pack as an install option. The disc will still be spinning and streaming data.

EchozProdigy1742d ago

No the xbox 360 has the HD texture pack to as an install option

Blacktric1742d ago

PS3 one is mandatory. The 360 one is optional and comes on the second disc.

onyoursistersback1742d ago

lol....so the full install is 15!!! i was bashed on other post for saying this!? but i think i typed it wrong, i said it was the texture was 15 gb, and not the game it self....

jetlian1741d ago

its 1.5 gb for textures
it 14 GB for the 2 disks

you don't have to do all of them. I only did 2 disk for rage

onyoursistersback1741d ago

lol....N4G. people are disagreeing on what was my OLD POST?! haha....i made a mistake on other post, and people are here saying im right?! Hu???? @jetlian yep your right, just made a mistake on another post i did. :D

Rearden1742d ago

A few Gigs aren't that much considering what you'll be getting in return. DICE has said that the texture pack "really makes a difference".

TrendyGamers1742d ago

Yeah, the game looks simpLy amazing.

RyuDrinksTheDew1742d ago

So you get the HD content from the marketplace, not the disc?

thats according to the picture in the article.

for some reason, i recall them saying it was on disc, oh well.

hiredhelp1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

Im sure will be on the disc ive never heard of anything like that be a DLC thats apart of the game the servers be dead slow for one thing. it be on the disc.

BattleTorn - Then take that option install it mate for the best results.)

BattleTorn1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

it's on Disc2 but it installs separately from just installing each disk on dashboard.

it's an in-game prompt that adds another 1.5gb of HD content. (optional)

RastaCC1742d ago

Go look at the picture again. The marketplace content is the online pass.

RyuDrinksTheDew1741d ago

actually, you go look again.

under Battlefield 3 HD Content, it says Marketplace Content.

in fact, here is the screenshot so you dont have to click the link.

megacowdung1741d ago

it would be better but ps3 uses blu ray cd's that hold alot of gb. maybe 20-25 gb so there's no need to install stuff on the ps3's hdd

padz11741d ago

Wow, your misinformed.

SJPFTW1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

how come you cannot install the game on the PS3 HDD? wouldn't it be faster like load times and streaming and stuff?

damnyouretall1742d ago (Edited 1742d ago )

it would be, works good for my 360. i wonder why ps3 doesnt have the option. where are the tech heads when you need em

TrendyGamers1742d ago

Yeah, it would be great if you had the option on ps3 but i buy all multiplatformgames on my 360 so it doesnt bother me.

InfraredChimera1742d ago

They would make it so it was a PSN+ feature and screw everyone else over.

vinniects1741d ago

The laser for the blu ray runs really hot. I guess it's ok for a few hours, but I had to go through two ps3's . I sadly have no life and play way to much . Installing on my hard drive would save my poor abused ps3 lol

tehgam3r1742d ago

hmmm, prob cos ps3 games has duplicated data already on the disk so it is easier and faster to read.
The install times would be longer and possibly larger.

Virus2011741d ago

Blu Ray disks carry more data than the Xbox 360's DVD disks. However the Xbox 360 options to install the game onto the hard drive allows the data to run faster on the Xbox 360.

Watch any videos where they compare the loading times of the ps3 vs Xbox 360 with the game installed.

However I'm still getting BF3 for ps3 day one. See you all on the battlefield.

SignifiedSix1742d ago

Good thing i have a 120gig HDD, lol. Not much of a bother for me. Have about 57gigs left. And plus, you get a superb game on top of that 15gig install ;)

Off topic. Here's a video of the singleplayer with the HD content installed. Enjoy! :D
