MP1st - "I went in with one mission: figure out what these games really are, what they try to be, and what they compromise to get there."
Great comparison of the two games, still deciding on which one to get or to get both o.o
I'l probably get both, battlefield first because its released next week and wit COD it looks like more of same which isnt really bad thing because MW is always fun but unless theres a good release day deal il delay buyin it for couple of weeks
As I've always said, both franchises satisfy different needs, so I play both for different reasons.
I applaud this article, but in the end it shouldn't be necessary. It's common knowledge that Battlefield relies on "realistic" gameplay and teamwork, whilst Call of Duty is more about fast, arcade like gameplay. I like both styles.
I'd argue that in terms of realism, Counter Strike is the most "realistic" (of course, there's the army games also, which would be on a different level). But, in between the 2 in question, you're right, BF is more realistic.
BF is more realistic, but I tend to think it tries to not be to much and add some fun to it
@Nitrowolf2, Yes, I think DICE does a great job of combining realism WITH fun! CoD does this just as well in their own way. I guess they have two different formulas that both equal the same thing :)
From my limited time spent with the most recent games of both franchises, I've deduced that the main difference here is Call of Duty has funny Russian accents while Battlefield has funny French accents.
Well said sir!
I have a question people, Is the Back to Karkland pack only available if you pre order or is it as standard in the limited edition?
I got the same question, so to play safe I'm gonna pre-order.
For the first few batches that stores receive, back to karkland will be available for no additional price. Just like the maps that came with BFBC2. If you wait a few weeks, you will not find a back to karkland limited edition. So yes it is standard in the limited edition, preorder or not. The exclusive content for pre order is the weapons pack, SPECACT skins, and dog tags.
I believe the Limited Ed. is only being shiped for pre-orders. But if you can get one that someone didn't pick up, it should contain the code. <- Again thats an assumption.
Good read. I think it comes down to preference and prefered play style. The difference between health is understandable. In call of duty the biggest threat (from killstreaks) must be earned from performance with minimal teamwork. In BF3 you can run and jump in the biggest threat (vehicles) which most maps have. I prefer vehicle based combat. It is what drew me to BF series, operation flashpoint cold war crisis, ARMA series, and star wars battlefront. I still like call of duty, but the lack of vehicle combat is a deal breaker for me. I lost intrest after mw2. I must admit the campaign's are fun to play. MW3 will be a rent for that very reason.
It may be considered blasphemy, but I'm almost more excited about MW3's campaign than the multiplayer. I guess it's because I know exactly what I'm going to get in the MP. No idea what's going to happent in SP. Plus, I wanna know what happens to ma boyz!
