No, but it is going to be what JRPGs should of been and something we haven't seen in the past 6 years.

Pokemon really is a fantastic video game series and a worldwide multi-media phenomenon. So the answer is a resounding NO.

Pokemon GSC is the best handheld video game to date.

Pokemon is the most resounding and fantastic example of wasted potential to date, that's for sure :D

Farsendor12248d ago

only reason i disagreed cause pokemon isn't as good as it used to be

_DarkCharizard_2248d ago (Edited 2248d ago )

I strongly disagree. The Pokemon series has maintained quality persistently...

I'm sure most people here will agree with you though, because Pokemon is a Nintendo franchise. But ofcourse they won't say it like that.. they will try and give various BS reasons to make it sound like a "fact", which it is not.

@Below:
Considering that Pokemon is the huge international media phenomenon with spin off games, TGC, Anime, Manga, Films etc all apart from the main series:

Sky is the limit.

Also,
Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

Abriael2248d ago (Edited 2248d ago )

@nyanyan: yet to seem to pass reviews (that are by definition a matter of opinion) as facts :D

I see what you did there.

But you did nail the problem with the Pokemon series. It "mantained". Being exclusively iterative is ok for a while, but there's a limit.

interactive ghibli movie > pokewhatever.

Godmars2902248d ago

Don't know, never played Pokemon.

And where Studio Ghibli's art style got me on board here, the gameplay seems pretty standard to what JRPGs on HD consoles are now. I would certainly love to see less realtime, more turn based. Sci-fi/mech themed with teenaged characters who aren't from a fashion show rather than young adolescents who are.

Farsendor12248d ago

don't believe that for a second never played pokemon and your a gamer almost every gamer i know has at least tried it to see what all the fuss is about.

Godmars2902248d ago

Meh, believe it or not. The closest I ever got was Tomigotchi.

HaHa_Ostrich2248d ago

I have to admit I did not play any Pokemon game ever. Not once. Youre not alone there Godmars290. (Im from Europe and in my country it was never really a fuss or anything. It aired on TV once, I think just one season.)

I don't know how similar they are but i do agree that Pokemon is an example of wasted potential. 15+ years of the same old formula without any major improvements in graphics. Still using low resolution sprites.

I don't really expect much from the storyline but if they could update the battle, the visuals, i'll be all over it but i doubt that would happen since that same formula basically prints money.

I still have a slight hope for the 3DS version.

Farsendor12248d ago

well my bad guys i thought almost everyone would have played pokemon or at least played a demo of a recent pokemon game
