IGN: Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One Review

The Ratchet & Clank series is one rarely enjoyed with friends. With all that platforming, gunplay, and space travel to consider, multiplayer only shows up on occasion. With Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, the developers at Insomniac tackled cooperative Ratchet multiplayer for the first time.

The story is too old to be commented.

There was that IGN review we were promised today. 8, a very good score.

Great score. Just about right imho...

Yes this sounds right. I don't know what was up with other scores being so low.

They actually got someone who enjoys the series, and was able to give an honest opinion on it based on his experiences from the past games. Something IGN is known for NOT doing actually. I've read many of their reviews that begin like this. "You know, I've never been a fan of this series, never enjoyed the games a whole lot..." Honestly, how are they to be taken seriously when many of their reviews begin with those exact words? That specific game is already guaranteed to get a low score from that reviewer. Thankfully, some of their content is still well written and fun to read, but it doesn't come that often anymore.

Looking forward to a new generation with new IPs. Gears, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Bioshock were all brilliant original ideas this generation. At least Nintendo knows how to reinvent the Mario series time and time again, Ratchet is the same ol' same ol'.

Wow new IPs and you bring up Nintendo? What new IPs have they created lately? It's the same Mario cart game in every Nintendo system--that Nintendo?

Insomniac did something new with the R&C series for the PS3 in this game and they can't win some critics. This was a day one purchase for me as I love playing coop with the wife and friends. There aren't too many local coop family friendly games out there besides Little Big Planet. Kudos to Insomniac!

Oh yeah, that makes sense. Each Ratchet game just has new worlds, new weapons, a new story, new gadgets, new characters, new enemies and extra stuff every game (death matches, bike racing, grinding, spaceship flying, gliding, buggy driving, multiplayer competitive, 4 player co-op, a giant building smashing Clank)plus they were the first ones to create spherical worlds before Nintendo did it with SMG.But yeah Nintendo 'reinvents' Mario all the time. Sure they do.

@ Rich1631. I disagree. Why should they stop because not all people like this new game? Everyone is always telling Insomniac to stop making R and C games. Why? I think lots of series should die. Many games are over milked and over used. Why should R and C be the ones to be stopped? No one ever tells Bungie or Capcom or Nintendo to stop making the same damn game over and over [email protected] Saadsack Well said.

LOL..... By reinvent do you mean putting him in a go cart, playing baseball, playing soccer, or just putting him into a 3d world. Honestly the mario series is good for what it is but, mario has never done anything drastic to change its formula. I would say the last two drastic moves that they made were to create a 3d world ( different for them but not revolutionary), and introduce yoshi ( which occured in the mid 90's).

Trophywhore2375d ago

Reinvent? Mario is a dead horse that has been beaten since the 64 days. Any other series and gamers would hate it for being milked but they give it a free pass for nostalgia sake. Truely gamers are full of double standards.
