Dead Rising Fans: No Patch For You

Small text issue on non-HD televisions will remain as is.

Capcom: "Due to the amount of text and the size of the patch necessary to change the text, a patch isn't possible for this issue," said the company. "We had asked the team if it was even possible but ... due to the scope of what a patch would need to cover, it wasn't possible."

As it stands, no patch is coming for Dead Rising players

The story is too old to be commented.

well just one more reason to upgrade to the proper tv for the 21 century. Thankfuly My xbox was reason enough for the upgrade.I mean whats the holdup at this point, hd is now in everyones budget with sets as low as $600 for a 720p set.

HDTV's are not really that expensive anymore.

This is a problem that should have been addressed before the game even came out. I can't believe they didn't even check for this problem... And no, 'just buy an HDTV' is not a good solution.

yeah, i agree. pity this wasnt found before release.

I have a fair size screen that is not HD, and I can see the text OK. Don't get me wrong, it ain't great. but how small are the TV's people are playing on?

Unless all the text in the game is a texture (which would be ridiculous), it would seem that the following would make sense:

DisplayFont(string InputText)
{
DrawTextToScreen(InputText, 'WhiteColored Font', OriginalFontSize + 100%);
}

I, of course, have no access to the source code of the game, but I can't imagine any programming technique that would require a "massive update"...

Conspiracy to get me to buy an HDTV? If it is it is damned near working. :)
