Grand Theft Auto IV: The Story So Far

Ever since Peter Moore's bicep set the clock running on 10th May 2006, the world has been watching and waiting, and Rockstar has probably been sleeping rather badly - albeit on rather more comfortable sheets than the ones it was soiling in October 2001 when Grand Theft Auto III first went on sale.

Back then, GTA was a good PC game, but 3D updates of 2D games were struggling to get the best out of their source material, so while interest was high, no one anticipated the impact GTA III would have.

I'd like to see what Rockstar does with LA Noir. Recreating LA on a double layer BD with streaming media sounds like a winner.

and 1+ from me 2 all of u

seems someone went down the line with negatives

if they really changed up as many things as this article is stating....then I fear that GTA may have lost some of the magic that made it special .....these main features are what set it apart from the rest ...and if removed...it could be tragic

@rbanke
My point exactly....the silly things they remove to make it more life like..could seriously turn me off to the game

I agree, not sure if its the same reasons as you though.

For me, GTA has never been a game that i cared about the story. I want mayhem pure and simple. The humor, driving, and freedom is what draws me in and it SEEMS that gta 4 is putting all that in the backseat in favor of the story. I hope im wrong about that, because I for one would be really happy with a san andreas style next gen gta, and am not looking for a different game in gta 4.

It created a genre and still remains king of the hill within that genre and perhaps even outside it aswell.

No other game has had such an impact on gaming as GTA3 had, it really was something else back in the day. I just couldn't believe that I could do all this stuff within this amazing 3D enviroment. I have literally spent hundreds of hours playing that game, no kidding!

Getting a new GTA is always something special, it's something I really look forward to with a passion. GTA4 was the game I was looking forward to most this year, so I was really pissed when I found out it got delayed.

I'm convinced Rockstar will deliver again, it won't have the same impact GTA3 had, but I'm pretty sure it will be something special regardless! :)
