PC sim with awesome graphics at last :) I think games wont be able to look any better sooner or later.

Iroquois_Pliskin2620d ago

before they start mouthing off about the graphics, they should worry about the pysics of the game. GT franchise isnt all about the graphics, but getting the physics right. Take the Spec II update for GT5 as an example of ace physics

Letros2620d ago

You're new to the sim scene aren't you?

nix2620d ago

more importantly, everyone still compares their products with GT5. GT5 is still the product to beat.

StanLee2620d ago (Edited 2620d ago )

@ nix

Who compares their product to GT5? You mean the "gaming media", right? iRacing, RFactor, ARCA sim racing; would never compare their product to GT5. Let's breakdown the problems with GT5 shall we; standard cars, Bad AI, career progression brutal after level 20, shadow flicker and blockyness, B spec grind, car sounds, course cutting and bouncing off walls, lack of car personalization, mediocre damage. Look GT5 got the score it did for a reason, as a game it isn't accessible and as a sim it still has a long way to go to compete with real sim racers. All you GT5 fanboys could knock of the rhetoric already.

Comparing GT5 to a PC race sim....Blah ha ha ha lol OMG my stomach hurts from laughter.......Ok I'll loose another bubble just to show you the difference between a good game GT5 and the real deal iRacing!

This is a Sim Racing game! Meaning this will be the closest thing to REAL RACING besides getting into a Real RACE CAR or a $1,000,000 Pro Racing Simulator!

GT5 is great for consoles, it's a wonderful Game but this is the PC we are talking about now! iRacing allows you to race against REAL Indy and Nascar drivers! The Champions of iRacing have been flown to various tracks to drive REAL Indy and Nascars because iRacing is so dam real that the PRO's recognize it and USE it as a training tool.

NASCAR and IRL sanction.....let me repeat this Nascar and IRL SANCTION various races through-out the year including the famous Daytona 500 iRacing event the night before the real Daytona 500.

GT5 can not say that! GT5 does not have these guys as their OFFICIAL PARTNERS! GT5 does not have any PRO Racing league setting up it's rules and sanctioning any of it's races. Why? Because it's NOT real enough like iRacing!

When it comes to physics and simulation NOTHING except the real thing will ever beat the PC!

frostypants2620d ago

GT5 and Forza are the standard bearers for the popular media, but iRacing is pretty much the true standard in sim-geek circles.

"GT franchise isnt all about the graphics, but getting the physics right. Take the Spec II update for GT5 as an example of ace physics"

Ermm... GT5 has great physics. The absolute best by far on console. BUT, it is literally nothing compared to the PC sims like iRacing. Those games are brutally real. Even real race drivers, like Dale Earn-whatever Jr., a very popular NASCAR driver, play iRacing.

I'm sure that games can look even better. Better shading effects, better lighting, more complex environments, full destructibility, etc. We are currently on good track but graphics can get better. Can't wait to see what the next-generation consoles will offer!

frostypants2620d ago (Edited 2620d ago )

The HUGE step that has yet to be made is real-time ray tracing. No consumer hardware...not even top-line PC GPUs...are even close to pulling this off at an acceptable framerate in a true game scenario.

Some guy at IBM pulled it off on a cluster of three PS3s a while back (youtube "PS3 raytracing") but it was just a single car model.

There's also an Intel demo on Youtube, but again, just a small non-game demo...and it's on an 8-core uber-system.

Abriael2620d ago

It's PC, where's the news?

Kon_Artist 2620d ago

pc gamers are bored. instead of playing games. they made comparison to older games on weaker console.

like someone that owns a super-car. gets bored and starts comparing to normal street cars...

pc gamers are pathetic

Objective2620d ago

But question is is it higher detailed than Forza 4?

ProjectVulcan2620d ago (Edited 2620d ago )

While console 'sims' can claim their models are X amount of polygons- sure they are in autovista/show/replay mode, they aren't anything like that in actual gameplay so the game can run 60 frames.

PC could actually do that much geometry in real time in gameplay. Proper tesselated vehicles could easily exceed a million polygons IN GAME close up without breaking sweat.

As for the physics, then the flexibility of the Pc platform and extremely powerful CPU performance would allow a far more complex physics engine.

Course all this means NOTHING unless the developers exploit all that power. Lets hope they do.

killerhog2620d ago

Yeah or else I'm sure the journalist would of meantion it right? Must've of really blown forza 4 out of the water, but gt5 made a worthy advisory and that's why the comparison was done towards gt5

Abriael2619d ago

Considering that premium cars in GT5 are way more detailed than those of Forza 4 (unless you consider the completely static cars in Autovista mode), I don't think you really need an answer.

Now this is what a PC sim should look like. Damn my Rig just came alil.

Just needs some driver animation that droid car thing is annoying.

Letros2620d ago (Edited 2620d ago )

Check it out in Eyefinity, how a sim should be played!

Adjusted FOV in this one,

Jamaicangmr2620d ago

Looks amazing, just add a driver and immersion compete.
