Crysis Review - PlayStation LifeStyle

In 2007, Crysis released for PC and became an instant legend for pushing the graphical bar so far that the majority of desktops on the market were simply unable to run it. Despite the PS3 being one year older than Crysis, the system is now running the game without hindrance, something many thought was impossible. However, time has passed, and not ever game can retain its sense of entertainment after four years have lapsed. Has this technical deviant made an enjoyable transition to console architecture, or should it have just stayed on its platform of origin?

Great chance to pick up a game that my computer at the time couldn't even dream of running :)

Just about 3 quarters of the way to complete this game. This review is spot on.

"In 2007, Crysis released for PC and became an instant legend for pushing the graphical bar so far that the majority of desktops on the market were simply unable to run it."

Why do these lame sites keep sprouting this drivel, the game ran excellently for most who bought it, though they may have not been able to "MAX IT OUT DUDE IN DX10"

It still looked magnitudes better on 90% of 2007 pc's than it does on console today.

Mine had actual hd native resolution and this great thing called anti aliasing, this console version looks like it is running on pc at low to medium settings in sub-hd with ZERO anti aliasing.

And the multiplayer on crysis 1 is still widely played today and is fun as hell (though crysis war that came with warhead is much better), why it was not included is so strange.

Why anyone would disagree is a mystery.......Everything said is true, you guys watch too much fox news, you've gotten soo good at lying to yourselves that you believe this trash about "it's going to look better on consoles"

so butthurt....lol....."ohhh hh don't make fun of my sub-hd!"

NEVER EVER WILL THIS GEN OF CONSOLES HAVE ANYTHING CLOSE TO CRYSIS VANILLA WITH NO MODS!

Let alone what modders have done, your next gen consoles will probably not do anything like this in true 1080p with 8x AA;

I never said the console runs it better. All I really said is that when it released 4 years ago, most setups couldn't run it - including mine. I also never said it looks better on consoles - just that it looks great on them, and there's been improvement to lighting. The low amount of RAM on the PS3 results in still seeing texture pop-in that wouldn't happen on a decent gaming PC today. But if you're interested, here's the minimum PC specs:

Processor - 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory - 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card -256 MB**
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

Which based on that, my brand new laptop I got a few months ago can barely run Crysis (again, primarily due to memory). Granted, it's a laptop and any serious PC gamer would want a tower, but yeah, you get the idea. Crysis is still a beast.
