Entertainment Focus - Review: Forza Motorsport 4

Overall Forza Motorsport 4 is a triumph for Turn 10 and is easily the best racing game of this generation of consoles. Turn 10 have somehow managed to improve almost every aspect of the game. With the online and community features along with the Top Gear integration and big DLC plans this is a game that is going to keep fans happy for a very long time. If you have any interest at all in racing games then Forza 4 is the only game you need. Forza 4 is simply sensational.

Two more days until i pick up this masterpiece..

I don't think any game should get a 10/10. I don't even think Uncharted or Gears games would deserve a perfect score. A 9.5 should be the highest any game gets.

That said, hopefully it's as good as this guy says it is. I just hate the fact DLC is already planned and everyone just accepts that. And Sony's not innocent on this either. Announcing DLC before release on PS3 and 360 games should not happen. Put that content in the game!!! It's obvious these devs. are just keeping content and holding it later for dlc. And we just accept it. It's BS! Activision is the absolute worst at holding back content for dlc to be sold later. (map packs)

Which part do you disagree with? Do you like having developers withhold content to then later sell to you? I don't. And I'm referring to all developers, on PS3 and 360 both. And I still say NO game should get a 10/10. Not MGS4. Not GT5. Not Uncharted 2/3. Not Gears 2/3. Not any game on any system.

I think I disagree, but I don't click disagree/agree buttons.

If no game is worth a 10, then why have a 10 point scale?

Fact is, 10/10 has never meant PERFECT to any reviewer. It means, the game has combined all of its elements to make the game stand out as being a model for other games to take note of and provides a fun, exciting or interesting experience within the confines of its own genre. Not "perfection" as in "0 flaws" or "nothing can be improved", but "notable for its quality", "exceptional".

SantistaUSA2500d ago (Edited 2500d ago )

@blumatt What's wrong with DLC? You are not required to get it to enjoy the game! Devs are in the business to make money!
I've worked retail all my life (12 years) and I hate when customers come in a say "hey give me a better price" and when I say sorry but I can't do that, they get pissed and say there is a mark up on the price! No [email protected]#% Sherlock, we are in the business to make PROFIT!

I do agree about the perfect score tho, there is always something that can be improved.

HeavenlySnipes2500d ago

no game should be a 10/10. Why? No game is perfect. There are flaws to every game, the goal of every dev is to be as close to perfect as possible (that's why we use a 10 point scale Thom)

That being said congrats to Turn 10. Everyone loves their game. I don't really dig sim racers, I have Gt5 and played Forza 3 and didn't really have much fun with either. So play your hearts out racing fans!

Oh boy...

"Overall Forza Motorsport 4 is a triumph for Turn 10 and is easily the best racing game of this generation of consoles."

That line is going to cause a MAJOR poop storm even more so than all the others on N4G.COM by the you know whos on this site.
So many comments like the other threads will get blasted for trolling etc.
Bring your flame suit because it's gonna get hot in here.

PirateThom2500d ago

Why do you bring it up as a point of contention unless you want people to comment on it though?

Tr10wn2500d ago

Or because he's speaking facts? is no secret that is based on PS3 Fanboys and the majority of the disagree comes from them.

kaveti66162500d ago

Initiating conflict for the sake of proving his point makes him stupid.

He was the first to bring it up on this thread.

JokesOnYou2500d ago (Edited 2500d ago )

death2smoochie, yeah I got to agree with PirateThom, no need to bring it up, the review/score speaks for itself...Forza has continued to get better with every release, its being recognized by almost every critical review site as the best the genre has to offer on consoles. Its perfectly fine if others prefer GT5, but folks like blumatt who come here hating on what Turn10 has accomplished with Forza4 are nothing but extreme fanboys. Theres no help for their delusion.

earbus2500d ago (Edited 2500d ago )

Yay its nearly here remember not to drive too fast going to pick it up two more days and forza is yourza wooooooooo in a cole train voice. At the end of the day smootchie when i play the game the last thing ill be thinking of is any other game of fan agenda because ill be in car dreamland i dont claim it to be better than any other game im just a passionate forza junkie.

Bull5hifT2500d ago

Played the demo, the world looked blander that GT was more arcady something about the track not having realistic turns, pretty much like slight left or slight right , id like to see a professional F1 race driver try this out and say its like being there, the same way they do with GT.... I want to like it, but hearing it being even mentioned along the GT name its a LOL... Cant hold a candle to the perfection put into making GT A Simulator Sorry

StanLee2500d ago

Fact is, Forza has had a greater critical reception than every Gran Turismo game released since 2005 when Forza debut. Worst yet, when compared to PC racing simulators like iRacing, RFactor and ARCA racing, you see just how far Gran Turismo has to go to be considered a true sim. Forza finds a great balance. Gran Turismo is a better simulator, granted, but that's not what Forza aims to be. It aims to encourage car culture, celebrate a love of cars and community and overall, be a great gaming experience; It knows its place. Gran Turismo seems to have lost its.

Ultraplayerxp2500d ago

"It aims to encourage car culture, celebrate a love of cars and community and overall, be a great gaming experience"

While true, I fail to see how GT doesn't do this for its fans as well. Also, GT never lost its place, Its a sim above all else. We've known this since the first GT came out, how come its not enough for GT5?

MaxXAttaxX2500d ago (Edited 2500d ago )

"than every Gran Turismo game released since 2005"?
You mean GT PSP? LOL
Unless you consider a PSP game direct competition to Forza, I don't see how "every Gran Turismo game since" is the right choice of words.

GamersRulz2500d ago

Does it have a simple menu screen ? because that the most important thing when reviewing a racing games.

blumatt2500d ago (Edited 2500d ago )

bahaha Now that's funny. Bubbles, buddy. Something tells me that the menu's won't be critiqued in this game, tough. Bias at its best, I'm afraid. lol

XBL: Blu Matt
PSN: blumatt

Yeah, that's what I was saying. They wouldn't say anything bad about them. (critiqued)

ironwolf2500d ago

Actually, several reviews have mentioned the menu system, and given it high praise.
