No Offence But: Why do people get so angry over DLC?

GamerGaia's Ryan Davies writes: At the risk of making this a weekly thing, I thought I’d bring up another problem in gaming that’s been eating away slowly but surely on my nerves. I don’t really have an issue with DLC, in fact, I like the idea so much that I get a little bit annoyed every time someone mouths off at the mere thought of additional gaming content. Ok read It and I've never noticed anyone complain about standalone dlc that you are talking about. GT4 dlc or the Fallout games and portals 2 are done well only a fool would complain

sonicsidewinder2474d ago

What's there to read? Same article heard ten times over, and over, and over..

I think you are referring to DLC that is announced before the game even comes out which I totally agree with. DLC afterwards I'm fine with so long as it doesn't cost a lot e.g. COD maps.

RGDfleet2474d ago

exactly my view. And exactly what i said in the article.

Pikajew2474d ago

because we want complate games

Fair point. In most cases, DLC is totally optional, no-one is forcing you to buy it. If you enjoyed the game and want more content, buy it. If you don't want more content, don't buy it. Simple enough really.

Are you kidding me? Thats like buying a car with no wheels, and then saying "well if you dont like the wheels, dont buy them"

DLC can be done right, or done wrong, and its only done right a few times. Rockstar does DLC well, same with the Fallout series, and Bioware.

Poor comparison. A car is undriveable without wheels. Is a game unplayable without DLC? No. You can enjoy a game as it is with the option to purchase DLC later. Just like you can enjoy your car the way it is with the option to add chrome wheels later.

Actually it is a lot like buying a car and paying extra for the sports package. No one seems to mind doing that, so why does everyone hate on optional additions to games?

Even most DLC after the game comes out feels like it was on the disc to begin with but they cut it out to sell it later. Like the Gears 3 Horde DLC for example...I just can't beleive those "new" features wern't in the game to begin with...even a character like Bernie, your telling me you just thought about putting the character in the online now. Yeah....I'm not that stupid.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are games I would happily pay for the DLC. Mostly anything Capcom related I would avoid untill I get the GOTY edition.

It's not the point if your not forced to buy it, all gamers want a complete game and get the most out of the game they're paying for.
