According to DICE, their "war of words" between Battlefield and Call of Duty is getting tiring.
Who started it?
EA started it. They wanted to "take down" Call of Duty with Battlefield.
If Battlefield 3 doesn't match the newest Call of Duty installment in sales, now and forever, (much like Killzone) then it is forever inferior? Of course I personally do not favor such a ridiculous, one-dimensional notion. But if popular opinion does sway that way, then I guess it will be #1 on the hit list on N4G at least. To a grand majority of N4G's participating audience, that is all that is required.
Sales and server numbers are usually the factors considered, however skewed they may be. If we are talking about the quality of the product, then it's up for dispute. People love this stuff though. Every article discussing the feud is eaten up and argued over constantly. Personally, I can't stand it. I really don't have a preference for one over the other. It won't stop until Call of Duty does, and that won't happen any time soon.
Battlefield is just so much more realistic. The graphics look better, the sounds sound much more crisp and realistic, and the game itself is just focused on more realistic scenarios. Call of Duty is the Transformers of the war game genre. It's all flashy and hip, but with less substance. It's a great game, but for realism, I go with Battlefield. For just fun with friends, occasionally I'll pop in MW2 (and soon MW3).
BF is not realistic. Vehicles regain health., Gameplay is dry and boring since you get shot from far away since the maps are big. who wants to stay prone all day to prevent from getting shot?
Pay attention, bud. I said "more" realistic. Neither games are realistic, since they're both just that: "games". And I personally love the big maps. I don't feel so confined and it's not all corridor gameplay. And it takes a lot of skill to snipe someone from so far away. It's not like in CoD where a sniper rifle shoots perfectly straight no matter how far away. There's actually noticeable bullet drop, which has to be accounted for when taking a shot from a long distance.
There's no war, it's been a one sided attack.
I don't know but its getting annoying and somewhat childish. Fanboys and editors isn't making it any better.
Well then the Battlefield developer should tell EA to stop acting like idiots, and talking so much crap every second they get.
Makes me think what would happen if both got cancelled and what would be the next "war" to debate... [Dark Souls vs. Skyrim yuck!]
Of course it's tiring. CoD has nothing to fight back with so BF3 constantly has the leverage.
EA is already getting "tired" of the war. What war? This is just the battle. The games are not released yet. The war doesnt start until both games are released and then we'll really see which game gets better reviews, sells more, and is overall a better title in all areas.
Lol the only thing cod is gonna have an advantage over BF3 is sales other than that BF3 rapes and destroys cod in every possible way.
Dice developer is tired of it, not EA... Dice and EA, two different things.
battlefield is gonna fail
I'm pretty sure both games are getting "tired". COD is the same game as before and BF3 is nothing more than BC2 with prone and more vehicles. Absolutely no innovation from either developer. They both need to shut up.
Very wrong with that Battlefield 3 statement.
By all means, tell me where the innovation is in BF3? I've played the beta and it's the same as BC2. The grenades even float in the air like wadded up paper balls like they did in BC2. Destruction was done in BC2. The two game types were done in BC2. The graphics may be better but what else? Seriously. What else? I don't give a shit about graphics at this point in gaming. There are diminishing returns on better graphics now. Try putting all that effort in making the game shinier into making something new and innovative. A new game type perhaps? Something that you haven't done already in your previous game? You people that believe BF3 is innovative are sheep. The same applies to COD.
Well, it's a great thing that there is competition. With both studios trying to one-up each other, we'll be getting two excellent games this season instead of one just stagnating.
Exactly! Yet some people still take it upon themselves to make out like its a war and that everyone has to take sides. Both games will be excellent.
Between the bad press on the the beta for bf3. All the good news today on the mw3 single player video. And dice getting tired sounds like they already lost or at least given up
If you consider yourself an FPS fan, you're only doing yourself an injustice by not accepting that both games will be great. Just with consoles, why should we only have 1? They both have strenghts and weaknesses over the other, and its your own loss if you dont get both.
Personally, I have always preferred BF gameplay over CoD, it was fun and new fastpaced brainsout shooter when the first one came out, but when MW2 came out, I just tought why still play this when I have better option. Agreed, it's good thing to have more options, but I just stick with one, and I don't see it as a loss. About article, I believe there is good reasoning why EA is bashing CoD, Activision is losing it's grip with annual releases. Tought I'm not fun of this kind of bashing, but I see where they are going with it. They did drop the ball with Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero, they just.. died. Dice have been working new engine a long time, making two "side-projects" BC and BC2 to tune the engine, with every release BF is getting better and improved a lot, theyr working theyr asses off. My prediction is that CoD will sell like bread, some people can't get enough of it currently, but BF will eat it's sales. I would not be surprised if BF would sell better amongst PC players, this is a sequel to the old millions selling PC-game that people still play. On consoles players know BF thanks to BC's, and I predict the sales will be way better than BC2's, but not even near CoD.
they shouldn't care about overtaking COD in sales because it won't happen, COD has to large of a fanbase, Battlefield will be the better game in my opinion but it wont win in sales /end of
