Bethesda is serious about its lawsuit to get the name of Mojang's upcoming Scrolls changed. The lawsuit it filed against the Minecraft developer this summer is now headed to court.
This is a joke. I hope people working at Bethesda are ashamed to work for them
As you can see i am rather fond of bethesda and their games, however this really is stupid. If i were the judge I'd laugh at them, and send them on their way. Hope it doesn't make people look at Todd Howard negatively though.
I think at this point its a matter of pride and not who is wrong and who is right. Bethesda probably expected Mojang to say f$%k this these guys are bigger than us so we will change the name but Mojang found some balls and steel and stood up and said no we wont be bullied. In the end the bigger company always win but kudos to Mojang and Notch for not backing down. I hope he saved some of that Mine Craft money because these might end quick or get drawn out.
Look if you guys that are hating on Bethesda would have done some research you would have found that they are doing this is because of how trademark laws work. If they don't protect there trademarks they could lose it. These are Bethesda lawyers (you know they guys trying to protect the companies interest) that are doing this, not Bethesda directly. Even though it's only one word from there trademark it could cause them to lose it, so blame the law... not them. Granted, Notch has said he offered to drop it and change the name... but I would still say there more going on here than any of us actually know.
bethesda is a douche
No offense just get it over with already I'm getting a little tired of hearing about it.
What would you do if Bethezzy won? Shock and Horror!
Haha this is bullshit. I hope they fail miserably.
i wouldnt place the blame completely on Bethesda itself. rather, the blame should be put more on the legal team they use. whatever lawyers they use sniffed this out, and saw a potential "threat" toward sales. i dont agree with this, and i think its completely asinine. i just think people shouldnt bash Bethesda that hard.
oMgawd dis maek me fureos! *buys Skyrim, & all DLC, never plays Scrolls*
I can't believe this. How can they be serious with such a lawsuit? And it's not like "The Elder Scrolls" is the most popular video game name out there. As far as I'm concerned, it's Morrowing this, Oblivion that and now it's all about Skyrim. Sorry, "The Elder Scrolls", but it looks like you aren't at the center of people's conversations, so "Scrolls" wouldn't hurt the sales of the franchise, right? "showing how Mojang has copied Bethesda because both Skyrim and Scrolls contain mountains." This is bullshit. Mountains belong to the universe, not to Bethesda. I wonder what would happen if Bethesda actually wins. Their goal is to change the game's name so what are they actually expecting? "Mojang's Scrolls will be known as The Elder" as an N4G headline?
More like The Elder Manuscripts, how boring is that? Doesn't quite roll off the tongue. :P
ashhaha Im making a game called "the oldest pages"
If they win I could see this happening a lot in the game industry, not only that I've already lost respect for Bethesda (you know if the broke ass games they release didn't already do it for me).
This case is a joke. Hopefully it will be thrown out sooner rather than later.
I'm guessing Bethesda doesn't have any people that are good at playing Quake so they went straight to court.
Stop them making them over hyped snooze fests, bethesda presents paint drying 3 the sequal to grass grow. Its only my opinion so chill.
I wonder if the company "Magnetic Scrolls" will sue Bethesda for using the word "scrolls" in their game name?! http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
What? i thought this was a Joke article back than, so this is really happening, hilarious....
