Gamasutra's interview with the makers of id's upcoming title, Rage, is a shining example of solid games journalism.
Reminds me of this comic: http://penny-arcade.com/com...
Ah, the comic in response to this interview: http://www.1up.com/features... Good stuff!
didn't even have to click on the link. I knew exactly what comic you were linking to.
The Gamasutra interview was awesome, and the complainers can live with the terrible video game coverage they've come to (apparently) love.
It's just a matter of time until the next article titled "When keeping it real goes wrong"
I don't like people playin on my phone!
The problem here is that people don't do this kind of thing enough to the big guys? (instead of a new IP, I know id has been around quite awhile) Does anyone here think we will really question the design choices in games like Skyrim or Mass Effect? Even if they aren't as good as they should be? I don't think anyone has ever been critical of how suckish a Call of Duty's single player design can be. Grenade spamming to artificially increase difficulty and force the player to keep a specific pace instead of actually working on better ai and level design? Really? Edit Oops, that first line shouldn't have a question mark.
I dont understand the reviews. Im loving RAGE
I can see where some of the reviewers are coming from, but alot of the negetive reviews seem more biting than constructive. I also have Rage (the game), and while it frustrates me at times, I still think it is one of the best shooters in a long time. I'm loving it.
I think i just love the ability to throw a windstick while shooting, Drop a turret then switch to a shotgun and blow a mutants head off. All in the space of a few second
Seriously. Fanboys complain about journos taking payoffs and getting too close to developers/publishers, and then ONE GUY holds some asshat's feet to the fire, and it's the end of the world. Spare me. Dude did his job.
Will gaming journalists get real. This isn't the film industry were a studio works 3-6 months making a 90 minute film and every critic thinks they know what they are talking about. This is the gaming industry and every gaming studio works hard for years to bring us 6- sometimes 100 hours of entertainment. The likes of Jim sheridan and this guy have no right to act like they are above any of these devs especially when the likes of Jim sheridan can hand out 10/10 scores for games like Nintendogs that probably took 3 months to make on the DS by a studio of 5 people. I think its time us readers start getting real with these shitty ass gaming journalists who pass their opinions as facts and sometimes get caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
