@Ve3tro: "Here's the second part of Crysis running on Xbox 360, here we get to see a better look at the surroundings such as the water and foliage in the day."
Wow! Color me Impressed! I used to play this game all the time on the PC. It really does look amazing on the 360.
Yeah this is really impressive, it just pisses me off that if crysis 1 can run great on consoles why was the level size of crysis 2 scaled down so much?
Good question mate! I wonder why I got 2 disagrees?
they said in honestness crysis 2 had way more detail than the first game
Yeah the game really does look amazing on Consoles, and that's coming from someone who played it on a high-end PC... If your expectations are not ridiculous then you can appreciate what they have done here, the game really looks good and it has some new effects - better explosions - nice feel... I'm actually enjoying it on my PS3, Nicely done... Now I want Crysis Warhead - to complete my collection.. Really Nice job Crytek... I'm impressed.. .____........___...____ .____||......||.......____|| ||.........___||.......____||
put it in fullscreen at 720p, it don't look that great! It looks like the pc version on low in 1024x600! It's also missing about 75% of the foliage!
Bullshit, this does NOT look like Crysis with low PC settings, this is definitely the high area. It practically looks just like high settings, without any mods. Add mods however, and the consoles would definitely have trouble rendering it. The foliage looks a LOT better than I thought it would look as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watc... looks close...... heres a comparison.....and yes....it's about low! http://www.youtube.com/watc... (in this comparisson the low spec pc version looks better in some spots!)
It is medium at best. After many many years of experience with Crysis the equivalent settings seen in the console versions are medium at best, with the textures, shadows, water and post process lighting taking the worst hits besides the resolution and AA of course. The textures are what reduces the fidelity the most, with max settings on PC being an absolute truckload of 1024 x 1024 textures and several 2048 x 2048 textures too. Even on medium the texture fidelity on Pc is superb. Try and find a ground texture like this on the console version. The vast majority on PC match this resolution even on medium : http://i731.photobucket.com... Console clearly tops out with 512 x 512 efforts we are used to seeing on most console games, to save memory. When you see the console version in isolation- then it looks pretty good i must say. Crytek did a great balancing act trading off the most demanding settings against the performance they needed. However when you actually stand it next to the PC version maxed, when you see them together then it is blown out the water across the board, the gap is big. But then what did anyone expect? If you are buying this on console then you probably never played the first on PC anyway, you probably never even sat and experienced it first hand. So it'll be impressive to you and good enough. Enjoy it, its a great game regardless of all these visual comparisons.
Why the hell would I want to 'look close' anyway? Why nitpick stuff so much?
no need to look closely, the popup is horrendous
Are you kidding me!? No wonder PC fanboys downplay all console games, they think the compressed YouTube videos expanded to full screen represents the quality.
PC on the low? Son,please...It even has parallax occlusion mapping on consoles.
BTW, here is low.
Exactly, i was also amazed that they managed to even add parallax occlusion FX in the console version, Crytek did some serious work here!
People forget that even a crappy computer could run Crysis. Now I think it still looks better than the lowest settings on PC but the whole thing with Crysis was being able to run it at MAX settings at a high resolution. Any crappy computer can run any game at console resolution without too much trouble.
It might have been running like crap on your system, Upgrade son!
except console exclusives
PC owners are left speechless and troubled and bitter......Of all that $$$ spent on upgrades on pc when all they had to do was buy a xbox360.
It looks a lot better than I personally thought it would, so that is great news. However, you still cannot get it looking like this on the consoles: http://www.youtube.com/watc... Not a massive deal, because it's all about the game in the end, and it was always a very fun game to play regardless of the graphics settings.
sure cant but then again its not rebuilt for the consoles anyway so have fun
Judging by you name and avatar, you forgot the /s.
.... It has been almost 5 years since the game first came out, you maniac. PC version is still graphically superior and there's still Crysis Warhead which is superior to both Crysis 1 and 2 on PC.
happy that console gamers get to play this awesome game its not always about the graphics and most of the time it isn't about graphics
Guys surely you're joking. About a week ago I said that the console version had better lighting and colours but I take it all back. Clearly bullshots off CryEngine 3 PC Devkit. http://www.youtube.com/watc... http://www.youtube.com/watc... If I worked for Crytek or was Cevat Yerli I would be embarrassed. He made up total rubbish about the console version, given 10 years THESE consoles could not perform at PC level in 2007.
Man I wanted to take today off work. I set this up to download last night and woke up this morning all ready to go. I played just lost enough to snuff out the first 3 guys but then had to go. Whats with all the graphics talk? All I care about is the gameplay is in tact that they butchered in part 2. The open world, clever AI, the constant cat and mouse with the guards by misdirecting them. And the game looks great anyway. Its just sad that SOME PC owners are upset because they've been saying this game could never be on console since it came out. The one day Crytek said, yes it could and two weeks later I'm playing it. Life is good guys.
personally i think the popup affects the gameplay, especially when it is 2 meters away
The popup is way to illusive to be bothered with...people just don't care...most games on consoles have had serious popup compared to this Crysis console version.
I havent really noticed it, but I only played it for 5 minutes, on a dark level. Im playing on PS3 as well.
From what I see, this game is built on the CryEngine 3. I'm not an expert in software development and such, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the reason Crysis couldn't work on consoles was because of the Cry2 engine? I've always heard that CryEngine 2 was such a resource hog, so probably it would of been a crappy port on consoles, so they basically had to rebuild the game on CryEngine 3 for it to work. Without it, console owners probably would never of had Crysis in the first place. Personally, I think it's great console owners finally get a chance to take Crysis out for a spin, after the let down that was Crysis 2. I mean, I didn't think it was that bad of a game, but I felt that Crysis 1 was so much better, in story and gameplay.
I think all that MOST PC gamers (the intelligent ones, anyways) meant is that it can't run on console with graphics equivalent to PC's Very High settings. Damn game could run on the Nintendo 64 if Crytek wanted it to. Don't you remember the jungle level in Goldeneye? :p
I own the game on the PC & the 360. It's a blast to play on both systems. It looks good on 360, for a 360 game. However: visually, it does not compare favorably next to the PC game, running at the same resolution. Still, it's awesome that console-only people are finally getting to play this, because it's very fun.
It looks awesome on consoles period.. Now unto gameplay.. It will be much more enjoyable for me now, using my Dual-shock ... Happy days .. Was tempted to use my Credit card.. but I'll just wait till I get paid.
This game could run on Nintendo 64 if Crytek wanted it to. Don't you remember the jungle level in Goldeneye? Anyways, here is the latest and greatest video showing the differences between console and PC's Very High and low settings.
No Youtube video will do either version justice. Youtube is only useful to show artsyle and gameplay, not level of detail.
