Wouldn’t it be great if more games were unafraid to slow down a little?
I ask this question as I’ve recently been playing a number of games that take a far more leisurely approach to interactive entertainment. The wonderful Deus Ex: Human Revolution, for example, is a game that encourages slow, cautious and contemplative play over balls-to-the-wall, charging in with all guns blazing. Then there’s the equally lovely Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection – both games that almost demand that you take your time as you traverse Team ICO’s beautifully crafted worlds and soak up the atmosphere. To rush through them is to miss half the experience.
