NowGamer - Any 3D action game made after 1996 owes its life, soul, and money to Quake. It’s that simple. Id Software’s seminal shooter revolutionised the games industry, making fully 3D spaces not only achievable, but fast and streamlined.
So because Quake was one of the first good 3d fps games, every 3d game today owes everything to it? Screw that. If not for Quake, it would have been someone else. Great 3D games of today are of their own merit and have nothing to do with Quake.
"If not for Quake, it would have been someone else." So then let's not give anything any respect? 3D games today own a great deal to the games of the past that pioneered the technology. You'll be hard pressed to find a developper arrogant enough to state that they could've created their games all from scratch without relying on the work done in the past. Nanos gigantium humeris insidentes. (Speaking latin means I'm educated, whoop whoop whoop whoop)
What a crock of shit. I bet your worship CoD. Guess what engine that trash runs on? A modified version of the Quake 3 engine, aka id tech 3. Just about every FPS released today owes to John Carmack, John Romero, and the rest of id Software. They fucking created FPS, for fuck's sake, so how can you even sit there and expect anyone to take you seriously with that comment?
