Associated Press Reviews Assassin's Creed "Smooth but repetitive"

"Leave it to the French to bring us the first parkour video game - and then set it in the Middle Ages.

Though his favored method of movement wasn't really invented until the past decade, Altair, the light-on-his feet protagonist of "Assassin's Creed" ($59.99;€40.98 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), somehow feels right at home leaping across Jerusalem rooftops in the year 1191.

Altair climbs churches and walls with never-flagging vigor, hoping to strike down an arms trader or slave runner. Problem is, he does the same thing over and over again". -Associated Press

Mass Effect, Super Mario Galaxy, Ratchet & Clank.

I think the game feels more repetitive because because there's really no change of how the characters look. There's the poor soldiers and the soldiers with armor, the different looking bosses, and the assasins. The cities even look the same other than the one with the harbor and adding more people to the later cities. The thing that helped it be less repetitive for me was the free-running. That was really fun to jump from building to building and use throwing knives or throw soldiers off of the roofs. I just did as much different stuff that I could to make it feel less repetitive, but for people that wanted to beat the game quick and not do the side missions, you can finish each of the missions and bosses the same ways very easily and I think that's what makes it more repetitive.

The repeat it for the whole game.

And they as quite a bit of success from that formula.

You said to mention a game that was not repititive?

I am a Final fantasy 7 fan whore I think it is the greatest game ever made.
And so I disagreeing with you with a heavy heart.
But I must point out that some parts of FF7 can be extremely repetitive in most zones you get to fight the same enemies over and over again. And though there are plenty of enemies to mix it up a little once you get to a high enough lvl you can pretty much kill everything with one strike. Which negates the amount of diverse enemies.
