PC Games Poised to Dominate the Market...Wait, WHAT?

VGW: We all know the parameters of the debate: closed systems (consoles) versus open systems (PC) and their upgrade paths and superior graphics processing power; the huge install base for PCs, countered by the wide availability of console games at big box retailers; and the family-friendly “gather around the big-screen” image balanced against the techno-nerd, got-to-load-the-latest-drivers , DIY vibe still associated with PC gaming.

So, who is winning? (FarmVille, PC, PS3, Simraceway, Starcraft II, Wii, Xbox 360)

With services like STEAM keeping my video card drivers up to date, auto DL-ing and installing updates, and a unified friends system with VoIP that also includes Cloud support as well as achievements it is certainly becoming more appealing to those that have always preferred the simplicity of consoles.

End of console life cycle = Upturn in PC gaming. New consoles = Downturn in PC gaming.

I almost wanna agree but actually PC Gaming quietly got better while all the attention went towards this console generation.

But for the most part your are correct!!

Most certainly you can now Develop a game across multiple platforms but it's still always better to have those games that can only be done with the unique capabilities and freedom of the PC. With DX11 and everyone on board with the various ways the PC can generate revenue PC gaming is flourishing even more.

The PC for the most part is where game genre's start out, gain popularity then cross over to the Console!

Next console generation will see more online MMO's! just like this console generation was over whelmed with online FPS!
