Inspired by the recent NYU poll conducted by students, Ripten wants to know what it would take for you to give up your gaming rights for 4 years straight.
Just like I said on digg, I'd give up sex.
I wish more people would have fun with this. Not everything has to be PS3 firmware news, or "who is selling more consoles in Japan"....
4 years: a good woman
forever: private island
@below, one that you can see a future with, one that you love and loves you
EDIT: im approving this because this has a chance to have some real interesting comments
what constitutes a good woman?
Above: exactly, this could be a fun post...
100 million dollars and afew nice looking ladies to keep me company would be a good way to give up my gaming for a few years.
To be happy til I die
can't argue with that one. have a bubble.
But if playing games makes you happy, will you be happy to give it up?
Good response though...
Four years, huh? Would that include all web games, cell phone games, and board or card games?
I'd give up all gaming for four years, for a role in a major Hollywood movie. I'm talking Indiana Jones 4 here, people. Replace me with Shia LaBouf and we've got a deal.
Not worth it man.
Plus, Shia would do a better job.
If I saw Mario naked, I probably wouldn't be able to game for quite awhile.
Seriously though, it would probably take my girlfriend telling me not to. I know, I'm whipped.
When I get married, I'll probably have to give up buying games for awhile anyway.
your a disgrace to the male human race. ::puts out hand waiting for man card:: :P
wait i might still be able to play the Wii
which is basically giving up gaming anyway...
Bubbles for LeonS, brilliant, mate!
Honestly never read a website review on a videogame til 2005. My PS2 broke in 2002 and bought a 360 in 2005. I can do it but its much funner with the games.
jebus....give up games for 4 years huh? ive been gaming the last 11 years...hmmm. maybe 4 close friends...and endless supply of money so we can go anywhere in the world....lotsa booze and some magic mushrooms for myself :D (love gaming on those boomers :D) and i think i could do it. nothing beats your best buddies, a crapload of beer and some mischief.
go out with Jessica Beil or Scarlett Johanson.
i would only give up gaming if it helps my friends or family, i mean, if their life is in danger and they will be fine when i stops playing. =O
Not even a harem of sexy big boob japanese with cosplays and a great big japanese (old style) house and much money. Nya.. for what money if i cant buy videogames :(
I'm a gamer and it's what I do. I'd never give up my gameing for anything, on second thought (my principles aside) I'd give up gaming only if I was never bored for even a second for those for years make that happen and I'd give up gaming for four years.
I loved my ps1, never got a ps2, got a ps3........
i loved my ps1, never got a ps2 bought an xbox, then 360 then a ps2!
I could go 4 years for a fleet of R32s & a private track, but forever is a long time to go without anything you need/want at any price.
I would be partying and traveling just what I did yearly for Armin Van Buuren Show
4 year scholarship.
The only way I would give up gaming is if I get me a sex 10/10 Japanese goth chick that has a crazy sexy body and 50 million dollars, me and her would go every where and do everything if you know what I mean(and some weed, weed is good lol).
and some pie
i stopped gaming about 5 months into the life of the ps2 & xbox. i just got back into gaming after an accidental bump into E3 2006. Got my game back on since then and glad i did. awesome time to be a gamer.
but i dunno, i'd trade a happy stress free life.
It would be so weird going four years without a console but I would finally see what people do that stay at home and don't ever play games live like.
I would probably have to be homeless, or in jail.
Well, there's a certain someone I think is very special...I'd trade gaming forever for her heart.
I wouldn't take 4 years for 4 years though. But for 4 years...hmm...$60,000. That's about $5 per hour I would get for not playing a game, and I would consider that fair compensation for my time away from doing what I want.
You know what is bad, the majority of students at NYU are willing to give up their right to vote.
That is sad. That is something you should never, ever, willingly give-up.
I'm more concerned with the results. 1 million dollars? Idiots.
There's no point voting when the results are rigged.
if i become a professional soccer in Russia. hell no, i'm still not going to give up gaming for 4 years, but only for 4 sec.
I'm return from many years of no game playing. I buy PS3 for my daughter in April, and last game i have played before that is probably in 1996 ;)
.... nothin' can make me give up video games. not four years. not even a year. a month, yeah.
the only thing that can pull me away from video games are women. If I had to stay away from video games for a few years so i can be with a woman so be it. Life isnt all about video games anyway, people need a life outside of MMO's, Halo, Starcraft, and the Internet.
a couple of millions will do... forget the women part.. I don't need to leave video games to get them..
um hmm......keys to the playboy mansion? lol and a nice hefty bank account lol
Its just gotten filled with a bunch of douche bags everyday. The hardware sucks, the software sucks..
The 360 is suppose to be the best and that says A LOT about the state of the industry.
Nothing new is coming out. Same repetive garbage.
Id be a alot richer thats for sure, but its worth it.
if forever then send me on the private island, give me everything except gaming, and 100 fineass girls with nice shape, big ass, big titties, cute face.
Sure...as long as I could hibernate for the duration...
A BMW M6, and a BMW 750Li a Ferrari enzo, and a Lamborghini superleggera (black with spoiler) one porsche that I will give to my brother, and a jeep, because I'm gonna need something to go get groceries in. ... That's all it would take, can't really play games when your driving all day.
Ok thats not two but you get the idea.
If I couldn't play games, I wouldn't be able to read about them, because I'd be jonesin'. I'd have to have a schedule of constant stimulation, and lots of money. One weekend, skydiving, next, white water rafting, etc. And having hot men for tour guides...ones that put out for me and my boyfriend.
Being Jessica Alba's sex slave for those 4 years.
if only that were possible.
I have problems with 4 days!
Video Game Junkys ftw, bubble to you. xD.
Being Jessica Allba's FWB for those 4 years
I'd have to have unlimited access to the Playboy mansion.
tickets to see Led Zeppelin final reunion concert!
With Fable 2 coming out next year, there would be no way in hell, that I would give up gaming, never.
i could give up gaming for 4 years.
i gave up need for speed.
i gave up football.
gave up 99.9% of their titles.
that would do it.i'd just live life as usual.
When and IF I get to do my Ph. D.
My girlfriend plays Guitar Hero with me (she Rocks, I don't...), my friends are almost all of then gamers, even my boss, my colegues, two of my teachers are gamers... Probably 20% of my talks withs these people runs around games... Give up games would be give up from 20% of my day-to-day, it's not somthing that I can't give up anyway, but is something that, even if I want give up, all people around me would be doing, come to me and talking about it, so I would just come back to games anyway...
Sex... and lots of it.
Immunity from the law.
The Best Post I'v Read Yet.
So, I would give up video games for 4 years for 5 cases of SoBe teas (yumm…) and the guarantee that the gaming community would return to view gaming as fun and exciting, and stop acting like uncivilized, childish delinquents…
At the end of the four years, I get all the new consoles, a top gaming PC, and the ability to play the games I missed during the 4 years.
4 years? Nah. I´ll nuts just after a week.
What it would take? That I would never have to work again, and always have money for food. Then I could think about it.
No, wait. 100 billion Euro too. Then I tould give it up for about 4 days.
