The Official Playstation 3 Wireless Stereo Headset, which was released in North America earlier this month, is getting a big discount from an online retailer.
I'm definitley going to get this soon. My Sony bluetooth is getting a bit outdated. :/
Anyone know if you can buy this in the UK? And where you can buy it from?
I got it on September 8th thanks and I got the Amazon deal so these babies costed me only $65 which is was a GREAT deal! There a couple of issues with these headsets. Now, remember, if you want to compare $99 headsets with $300 then you should simply keep your mouth shut. I believe that for the price, the headset is surprisingly GREAT! The time required to charge the headset ain't huge which is a good thing. They are pretty comfortable but might get a liittle uncomfortable after a couple of hours but I guess that's true of any headphones. The mic is NOT impressive so far. I was trying to play KZ3 with my friend and he could hardly hear me. I immediately put on my PS3 bluetooth headset 2.0 and that worked fine. And you can not increase the mic volume settings using the XMB. The max limit is 3 and I think Sony should FIX this RIGHT AWAY. They did NOT fix the issue in the 3.72 update. The biggest problem that I see with these headsets are that when you put these on, your wireless router signals gets screwed up! So much that you simply won't be able to play ANY online game or even browse the internet. I have ATT Uverse 12mb and that is MORE THAN ENOUGH to play online. At first, I didn't recognize that it was the headset messing with my internet so I was pretty frustrated with ATT for the first 2 days but then it didn't make sense so I ran speed test on PS3 from the XMB. Turning on the headset and running the internet connection test resulted in pathetic downloan/upload speed estimated (as low as 650kbps for download). Ran the test thrice and results were around 600kb to 1Mbps. Turned off the headset and PS3 reported 10Mbps as the estimated download speed and 1.5Mbps as upload. Rinse and repeat and it was clear as day and night that it was my headset. I didn't want to mess with the router settings so I simply plugged in an ethernet cable and connect my PS3 using that. See, I was lucky that my modem is right besides my PS3 but if you have your router in some other room then running a wire could be a problem. You can however easily change the CHANNEL settings of your router but I understand that some people aren't aware of this method. If that's you, you should call your service provider and ask them how to change your channel settings. I think using an Ethernet connetion is the best thing. I should have done this years ago as there is minimal or no lag using ethernet cable. So if you can do that then go for it but remember that other devices conneted to your WiFi network won't work well (laptops, cellphones, tabs etc) so you will HAVE to mess around with the router settings to see which gives you the best results.
Amazon had a better deal didn't it? Anyways I'll pass since it's a virtual surround sound. Sony should've done a full 5.1 wireless that would've kicked ass. I guess they are saving in their next release.
This was never supposed to be a "let's make the best headset ever" headset. It's supposed to be an affordable, yet quality headset, which it is. Imo, it's the best in it's class (price vs quality).
Can you use these on pc too? And do you know if you can buy this headset over in the uk? :)
If you want a full 5.1 wireless then switch to Xbox 360 and buy the upcoming wireless and Xbox 360 exclusive Tritton Warhead 7.1 headset for £200 instead of writing comments like these about a headset that is supposed to be affordable. Every damn user review I watched ended with the same sentence; buy them. One of the experienced reviewer said that they're better than all of the shitty and overpriced Turtle Beach headsets and also their sound quality is comparable to AX Pro's which do have true 5.1. Besides the above average microphone quality, this headset is damn good. Period.
Correct answer. You won't find a better wireless "7.1 surround sound" headset for $99 or less.
Exactly. People on YouTube and other websites are comparing these to 160 dollar Tritton AX Pro's (which have true 5.1 but wired) and saying that these sound equally good as those but the mic quality is a bit worse. That is all. By paying 99 dollars, you're getting a great wireless headset. What more could you want? I just can't wait to get mine and explore Skyrim's dark dungeons. It's going to be amazing.
erm I thought it is full 5.1 just Virtual 7.1 ?
Those of you saying this is a 7.1 please stop....learn before you right. This is not 7.1 this is 2.0. Virtual is the key word here, 79.99 for a 2.0 headset is a rip off.
"Learn before you *Write*" lol coming from a guy who just bashed a product you dont have haha. I own them and you can say whatever you want about virtual 7.1 fact is it sounds worlds better the 2.0 and there is NO TRUE 7.1 OR 5.1 IMO that would require that number of speakers so they all simulate there audio and these simulate my ears off. Buy then talk your junk otherwise your no better then the dudes your were just talkin down to.
only thing you were right about was the "write"
Ohh please, Troll.
Worth it imo, I love mine.
I picked mine up 2 days after release for 99.99. If you can get them cheaper, do it, if not, buy them anyways! Best headset for under 100 for sure! I love em!
Hopefully they will create a Metal Gear Solid version of this soon.......
I own them. My name is Chad and my review is the 3rd one on the main page for these on amazon. I have owned Turtle Beach px21's i have also owned tritton AX pros (i bought when they were new to market for 200). I can not express enough to any doubters out there that these things are just amazing for 100. Like i said from what ive owned these beat them (PX21, Tritton AX PRO). The audio is crisp and clean and no distortion when cranked up. Also and probably the thing that i love the most and i dont know why is there is no static. I mean none, in load screens in no audio silience moments there is no shhhhh noise. If you have ever owned ANY headphones you know exactly what i mean. They work for PC but not all. There battery has lasted me 10hrs before and considering they list 7 as the time that is awesome. They are comfortable, you will forget you have them on. I have had them on before for those 10hrs before, with obvious bathroom breaks of course point is besides my ear getting warm they were non-exsistant. I have replied to alot of review on amazon for the same reason some of you have posted. They were comparing them to seinsors and Razors and Astros and im like am i really the only smart gamer here seeing that those headphones range from 300 to 500 and are WIRED!?!?! That is not what they where intended for. They were made to be a wirless high fidelty PS3 opiton on a budget and they F'N NAILED IT HAHA. In the end i really don't care what audiophiles say, i have never heard better audio quality for anything less then 250 and nothing wirless that good for 300. So by my calculations Sony came out with a deal....Now as long as they keep working ill be golden.
