PlayStation 3 - then and now (2006 - 2008)

PSU: Fall 2011 is finally upon us, and there really has been no better time to be a PlayStation 3 owner. In the run up to Christmas, Sony’s flagship console is to play host to a number of high profile games, including adventurer Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and the eagerly-awaited Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Since launch, PS3 has sold over 51.8 million units globally, has amassed over 50 million PlayStation Network user accounts, and sold over eight million PlayStation Move units. Indeed, it is obvious from these figures that Sony’s black box is enjoying incredible success as the platform rapidly approaches its fifth anniversary this November. However, the road was not always this smooth, and in the beginning started off very rocky to say the least . . .

The story is too old to be commented.

PS3 had an undeniably rough start but it's really come around and is now utterly awesome. Sony securing tons of studios this gen will also aid in future products for both handheld and console. The Playstation brand has a bright future indeed. I think Sony learned a lot this gen which will greatly carry over into next gen and can already be seen in how the PSV is being handled. I've been with Sony since the PS1 days and I don't see that changing.

However, I've never grasped the fools who said PS3 had no games, or any good exclusives. The PS3 has had it's fair share a good to amazing each and every year since launch. It's only become better and better over the years! PSN has grown to the stage that it's not worth nitpicking anymore. There are some great indie and fully-fledged titles on the Store coming regularly. Plus is a great optional service!

Based on the mistakes Sony has made in some areas, and how they seem to be approaching the Vita, the PS4 will be an absolute beast, and another favourite.

Ah, those were the times when everyone were saying "the ps3 got no games." I don't think anybody is saying that now though.

Nope, they're not because it has always been utterly ridiculous.

Edit: It seems I've lost a bubble... ;)

i love the fact that the ps3's worst year is still greater than most companies best year.
