Battelfield Community Manager Daniel Matros has explained the reason behind why DICE choose "Operation Metro" map for the upcoming Battlefield beta.
I would have liked to see Caspian Border. It seems that would have been a better test for the beta with everything that's happening on that map.
It would would have been cool to try the map out but it makes sense that they would want to keep the same map as the alpha for comparison.
I'm just happy to play the beta. I would love to see what it looks like on the PS3.
I agree, people need to test out jets and other veheicles
I was really hoping for something with aerial combat, unless of course I'm mistaken and it is featured in this map.
I just hope they've altered the physical map itself. When I played in the Alpha, 95% of the time, the game just stayed at the first set of M-COM stations and when it did make it to the 2nd section, it didn't progress at all. Not sure if I just had bad luck, but regardless, I had an absolute blast with the Alpha and can't wait for next Thursday. I know what I'm doing ALL weekend.
Prolly bad opponents or bad own team. First time I played metro in the alpha we went to the 4th section. Its pretty sick (avoids spoilers)
Nope if you read the alpha forums youd know that seeing the third mcom was very rare. A few days into alpha after everyone was familiar with the map I never saw the second mcom again. That said I'm very over rush. It feels too much like bc2. I'm ready for open conquest again. They are risking too much imo with picking a rush map as beta.
been wanting to play this level
That metro map is so underwhelming. Ugly ass preschool park playground .. yeah, you literally fight in a playground. Plus the hot rod LAV desperately careening around the map as it refills its halo health, blowing up and respawning every two seconds. really hope they implemented the other game modes on metro... or beta will get old fast.
Damn not this map again, the only parts of this map I like is the subway and the city section, the first part of the map I found was awfully balanced and that's where it took place most of the time for me, just got bored of it really fast :(
They said they improved the map design from the alpha version.
Oh really? That's a plus I guess :)
Well, considering there are only so many maps I am guessing they don't want to show off anything new and thus why we are getting the same map that has been shown and played already. Kinda makes sense when you stop and think it through. This beta is also more like a demo then it is a beta. This late in the game the only changes they will be really doing are network changes unless something major breaks in the course of the demo...err...beta time period.
At least we get a beta, other FPS won't even put one out (take a guess who) that's why their game is always busted and full of patches the first few months. You're basically paying to play their beta. Lol
DICE is obviously just pushing out the Alpha as Beta to keep their promise, not for any actual beta testing. 12 days is a joke.
Seems you don't see the importance of this beta, even if it was even closer to the launch, it is still important. I believe you can figure it out why by yourself. And it's not the same alpha build, it's newer beta-build (with battle-logs, customizations, etc...) with modified Metro-level.
12 days is enough to test for bugs, and to test the servers out.
I was really hoping for the Caspian map :/ Oh well...I too just wanna play the damn GAME!
I loved the map after playing the alpha and was such a large one to enjoy
is it a 32 v 32 map on pc? I know I would have liked Caspian map with jets and larger scale to get a feel for it on pc I will also be downloading the beta for my 360 AND ps3 to check out how far dice has come with the console too..... cannot wait to try them all!! I'll get to play the pc version on my birthday (sept. 27) as I pre-ordered on origin! -my wife bought it for me :D
Rush mode is 32 players ONLY for PC I believe. So it would be 16 vs 16 I think.
People bitching about when the beta comes out and now people bitching about the map they get to play. Just be glad to finally get playing the game sheesh!!
