Gamers "can't tell real world from fantasy" - supposedly

Many videogame enthusiasts suffer from “games transfer phenomenon”, meaning they struggle to separate fantasy from reality, says a study. Well, that’s according to one newspaper. But, as expected, all is not quite as it seems.

'National newspaper misrepresents scientific study's findings' shocker! Annoying and frustrating, but sadly nothing new. See Ben Goldacre's Bad Science blog for more of this kind of nonsense.

Goldacre is a legend. :-)

I'm close to 30 and I still sometimes try to Force Pull some smaller objects when I'm too lazy to get them manually.

But seriously. They want to use THAT as a proof? Ever heard the "phone in one hand and hot iron in second"? It happens.
People tend to have reflex reactions if they do it for some time and games are suddenly being at fault in this case? Holy Bejesus.

Very similar thing is to ask for a time person who holds beer for short time in the same hand as watch. Did happen to me once.

At university after a while working hard on a science project on a PC, I had urges to copy-paste hand written text from one piece of paper to the other.

No self-respected psychologist would acknowledge that as a some kind of "transfer phenomenon". It's normal.

So all gamers are insane then? Seems anyone can put silliness into print

whydoyouask4598d ago

First of all, i CHOOSE to see reality as a gigantic fantasy game. It's way more fun and interesting than going to your shitty job.

PixL4598d ago

Can journalists do so? I highly doubt.

I'm sure I can dodge bullets but I just don't feel like it right now :)

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space
