Homefront 2 - Is Crytek The Right Fit? writes: While the news that Crytek are going to take over the franchise and produce a sequel is certainly exciting it is also rather worrying. If Homefront loses the qualities that we loved in the first place, it's destined to become yet another forgettable shooter experience and will seal the fate of this new franchise that is brimming with potential.

I really dont see what sets this game apart from COD or Battlefield.

I reached the part where you hide underneath a pit of dead bodies and I could not play it anymore because I am sick of FPS that all feel the same.

TXIDarkAvenger2523d ago

Most FPS, more specifically the online ones, feel exactly the same. I honestly think this game will sell less units then the first one because Homefront just doesn't seem like much of a competition to BF or CoD.

hellerphant2523d ago

While I agree that all FPS are starting to feel the same where Homefront stayed off the path was with it's unique and harrowing story. Sure you might be sick of the FPS action but can you name another game where you have to hide in a pit of corpses to merely survive?

Sure it may just be about the shooting for you, but following the story you are a resistance members on your home soil, and this army has invaded your country, slaughtered thousands of your citizens and then you are forced to hide in a pit filled with lifeless corpses.

That's where it did things differently.

Yeah I liked story in HF and I like how it made you feel emotional from the start, the part when I was in the bus and I watched a little kids mom get shot to death in front of him was sad and made me want to kill those commy bastards.

One are the the game did suffer in and messed up the story experience a little was the facial animation - hopefully Crytek will improve on that.

But the truth is that I play video games for the gameplay 1st and story 2nd so thats why HF did not hold my interest.

Well run out and get a Mid Range Gaming PC and go play....

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER Call of Pripyat

Red Orchestra Osfront 41-45
Red Orchestra 2 Heroes of Stalingrad
Hard Reset
Team Fortress 2

100% Guaranteed to get that "I love FPS" feeling back.

THQ should have just license the CryEngine 3 and let the original Devs continue the work cause Crytek sucks at making MP and MP was the saving grace of Homefront.

You now you could be right - I have been reluctant to try PC gaming and I always wanted to play STALKER.

Metro was a blast and refreshing take on FPS - if stalker is anything like Metro then I am buying a gaming PC. Would love to build one from scratch but would not know where to start, so I think I might treat my self to an Alienware Area 51 ALX.

Not sure what all this means but sounds fast :)

Accelerate your gaming speed to heart-stopping levels with Intel® Core™ i7 975 Extreme processors, pre-overclocked by Alienware's experts for ultimate power. Get the advantage of CPUs pushed up to two or three additional bin speeds — as high as 3.86GHz. With the highest overclocked speeds around, you'll be amazed by what you can do

Nail on the head my friend, all of those games are fantastic! I just reviewed Hard Reset last week and was beyond impressed and Red Orchestra 2 is probably my favourite shooter of this year!

You forgot to mention Metro 2033

I'm going to be honest here. I don't think anyone saw this coming.
That said, I also hope that crytek can tell a good story with homefront 2 to match their visual prowess.

hellerphant2523d ago

Exactly. I thought the first was pretty average but the story behind it was great. If Crytek can pull off the same storytelling technique with their ability to make a fun shooter we could have something special on our hands.

aman84r2523d ago

I found homefront lacking in the visuals department and i think crytek are certainly the ones who can fix that issue.

Dlacy13g2523d ago

Is Crytek the right fit? I suppose we won't know until we see some gameplay. That said from a visual standpoint crytek definitely is a step in the right direction.

Mutant-Spud2523d ago

The best thing about Homefront is the way the MP maps are designed, you get those great chokepoint battles and a real back and forth style of gameplay.
