Pokémon: My Childhood and How Nintendo is Slowly Ruining It

Laura of GAMElitist.com - "Pokémon was a massive part of my childhood. I think that most 90s kids would say the same thing. I used to go out with my little mates armed with those flimsy link cables and battle together for hours. It was awesome. If we weren’t playing the games, we collected and traded the cards, all of which I still own."

Nintendo isn't ruining anything. Gamefreak are the developers. Anyway, the series has stayed the same since Red and Blue..not much has changed.

I know. How are they ruining it when the game barely changed.

Ya. I'm a little disappointed at the lack of creativity in some of the new pokemon. There's a garbage monster, an ice cream cone, gears, a heart, and something else that I forgot that I thought was beyond stupid. Most of the other new ones are ok though. Plus, there are always stupid looking pokemon in every set. Look at Jynx for example - weird blond in a red dress with big boobs, big red lips, and no face. It looks like an ugly chick trying to be pretty.

Also, Pokemon is not geeky at all. At least, where I went to high school and where I go to college it's not. I see people all the time with a DS with a pokemon cartridge in it.
I think people who are afraid that it's geeky have no idea that it's still actually extremely popular(hell, I even enjoy watching the TV show from time-to-time)...

Yeah, I think the designers are definitely running out of ideas with some of the new Pokemon.

That's what I always liked about the older Pokemon. They were all believable as animals. I could genuinely believe they really existed in this fantasy world because they all (to an extent) resembled real-life animals. Even the more bizarre Pokemon like Muk or Ghastly or Magnemite were still believable, despite being strange or made of unnatural substances.

But some of the more recent Pokemon...not so much. :/

I think Pokemon needs to create a game with using only the original 150. Then I might finally buy another pokemon game.

Shackdaddy8362278d ago (Edited 2278d ago )

They should start a 3d mmo with the original 150 then work their way up again... Like have red/green/blue/yellow type game. Then go to a gold/silver type game, then just keep heading up.

ForgottenProphecy2278d ago

why would they do that? Than you wouldn't be able to connect to the games like Black and White...

ForgottenProphecy2278d ago

I'm tired of people moaning and complaining about the new Pokemon. If it aint broke, don't fix it. They are just simply adding new pokemon to the same formula we all love.

-Mika-2278d ago

That what people need to understand about COD.

ForgottenProphecy2276d ago

CoD is different, they aren't fixing any problems. Pokemon is adding and adding, cause nothing is broken. In CoD, the game is flat out broken and it's the same game over and over.

I think the point was lost in the fact that she enjoyed the formula and now Nintendo is giving that formula to a whole new generation. These games aren't directed at us, but at that new generation.

The fact that we keep coming back for more only proves how much that formula has proved to be super effective.
