i hope i will not need to buy second gtx 570 card for playing bf3 on ULTRA
superrey19  +   1406d ago
I have a gtx570 and I think we'll be able to run the game at high settings, but not ultra... A gtx 580 would probably be needed for that.
BiggCMan  +   1406d ago
Love my new GTX 580 Lightning edition!
vulcanproject  +   1406d ago
An overclocked 570 is about as fast as a stock 580. All the 570s i have seen are excellent overclockers on their stock coolers- try MSI afterburner. They can take a fair bit more vcore and a great deal of them will go up to and some beyond 870/1740 core/shaders. Just those speeds is a fairly impressive 20 percent gain.

Just watch the temps...

Expect the new generation of cards within 5 months, ones that will blow GTX580 away no trouble. AMD may even launch these before the end of this year so i wouldn't buy an expensive new card right now if i were you- bad idea.

lol !!!
i think i can max it out
bumnut  +   1406d ago
I already have 2 and will be gutted if I can't max it.

SLI is not all that, it makes your machine sound like a hoover and is not supported by all games. The games that support it are great, but Just Cause 2 for example runs worse with SLI. Dead island does not even support it.
superrey19  +   1406d ago
I would be surprised if it didn't support sli. I'm sure you'll be able to max it.
solar  +   1406d ago
it should. i just bought another GTX 560Ti (with a free copy of Batman:AC :) and id be disappointed if it didnt!!!
vulcanproject  +   1406d ago
I had many dabblings with SLI, and often its up to you to find fixes for games. Nhancer is a useful tool. Generally i found SLI to be pretty stable and work well with many games, but it is highly frustrating when it doesn't work with that brand new resource hogging title that just came out and the driver update won't fix that for 2 months etc etc :(

Which is why I still prefer single card. That and the microstutter which did/still does drive me nuts.

As for Just cause 2, it used SLI fine for me when i have tried it.

Will two 'ASUS 550 Ti's' be able to run the game on Ultra with a AMD X6 processor?
That's the graphics card I'm talking about.
DeadlyFire  +   1406d ago
farhad2k8  +   1406d ago
I hope it does.

And lol, why did I get 2 disagrees for asking a question? =S
SonyNGP  +   1406d ago
I've got 2 GTX 570 OC'd, primed and ready!
Flavor  +   1406d ago
If nothing else, DICE games are always very well optimized. I think folks are overestimating a bit, and are going to be able to get very good results with basic quad cores (i3's and up) and any DX11 graphics card with 1gb or more. I keep repeating that alot of people, myself included, ran the non-optimized alpha very well with dual cores.
superrey19  +   1406d ago
There seems to be a disgruntled console fanboy disagreeing with everyone on this thread lol
rajman  +   1406d ago
Yes! I thought my GTX 560 Ti wouldnt do DX11...but it will =D
edit: btw anyone know if this will have pad support? Im new to PC gaming so it will take time getting used to mouse & keyboard (will practise alot) but since I want to play right away, pad is my only hope
#2 (Edited 1406d ago ) | Agree(7) | Disagree(2) | Report | Reply
bumnut  +   1406d ago
I don't think it will, previous battlefield games have been keyboard/mouse only.

You will soon get used to it though, and find it is more accurate than a pad.
rajman  +   1406d ago
Thanks, cant believe people would actually disagree with what I wrote lol Not everyone is a PC veteran, Im certainly not
Pixel_Pusher  +   1406d ago
I think I remember reading a while back that BF3 will support controllers but aim asset will not be enabled.

In previous BF titles, you could use a pad for vehicle controls. As for player control, I don't know.
ZeroX9876  +   1406d ago
just use Xpadder to transfer mouse/KB controls on a gamepad. if you adjust the settings, you can get some pretty decent controls, but if you don't want to get pwned too much, use the mouse/KB combo....
DeadlyFire  +   1406d ago
BF3 likely will support gamepad, but you might find it hard to hit things. A mouse is like god compared to the gamepads out there and the sensitivity they have compared to little sticks on controller.

PC controls are simple. Mine = wasd moves, r reloads, c crouch, z or x for prone, q for spot, e for use/action, mouse 1 fires, mouse 2 alt fire. Best thing about PC games are most controls are mappable. If you have ever taken a typing class. Essentially most keys you want to use will be within your left hand's typing position.

I got a GTX 560 Ti the other day :)
chak_  +   1406d ago
they say it run medium http://twitter.com/#!/zh1nt...
Pikajew  +   1406d ago
Doesn't bother me.
andslasher123  +   1406d ago
I disagree I use the same graphics card what he has and I can run crysis 2 with DX11 and all ultra high smoothly, so running BF3 won't be a problem for me, I still don't know about the other guy since there's other requirements then graphics card.
caboose32  +   1406d ago
I was running the game on medium with a GTS 250 during the alpha.

I'm sure a GTX 560 Ti will do a little better then that.
STONEY4  +   1406d ago
Not just a little, alot. My (OCed to stock GTX 570 performance) GTX 560 Ti runs better (and without the annoyances with SLI) than my old SLI GTX 275 setup.
chak_  +   1405d ago
alpha was a little rush map, conquest 64 on big map isn't demanding the same power AT ALL.
fluffydelusions  +   1406d ago
My PC sucks so I'll be playing on PS3, but PC owners enjoy this gem!

YES! My upcoming rig will handle this quite nicely. Glad I decided to roll with the Radeon HD 6950 2GB!

Dual 6950s it is then! : )

Thank god I bought a 560-Ti then. Just need to overclock settings for it to match up to a 570 :)

I don`t got nothing out of this world but my specs I have set up for this game are...

Win7 Pro 64Bit
Asus M4A78T-E Mebo
AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.91Ghz Quad Core
4GB DDR3 G.Skill Ram
MSI GTX 560-Ti Hawk Edition 1GB
Western Digital Black 640GB 7200RPM

KiLLeRCLaM  +   1406d ago
That's a really good rig..only thing is it doesn't suppost SLI..only crossfire..so if you wanted to get another 560-ti, you couldn't..
KillerPwned  +   1406d ago
Yeah true well I got it thinking I was just gonna do ATI. But I really got into the new line of Nvidia`s cards so I decided to get myself the card I have now.
bumnut  +   1406d ago
If 64 bit OS is recommended, will it have a 64 bit exe?
Letros  +   1406d ago
Yes, DICE is a big advocate of 64 bit.
Asgaro  +   1405d ago
Dice stated there won't be a seperate 64 bits executable.
Nevertheless, they still recommend 64 bits OS since 4 GB of mem would be nice.
7sEvEn  +   1406d ago
Just need my HD6950 to come in and im set!
ProperFunked  +   1404d ago
just curious. what setting are you pulling for?
7sEvEn  +   1403d ago
AMD X4 Black Edition 955
AMD/ATI HD6950 2gb which I will make into a 6970
8GB of RAM
ASUS Hybrid MoB
So I hope AMD has a firmware update to run smoother on DX11 and I will pull for a good 40-60Fps in 1680x1050 resolution at high settings.
Kee  +   1406d ago
Yeah, they were always gonna be quite hefty.
NYC_Gamer  +   1406d ago
So us 570 owners should be fine
nepdyse  +   1406d ago
Well the guy just said that you'll be needing 2 gtx-580's to run the game on ultra, but he didn't state the resolution so....
superrey19  +   1406d ago
Probably at really high resolutions. hopefully at 1920x1080 a single 580 is all that's needed to max it. Guess we'll find out in a week.
nepdyse  +   1406d ago
I hope so, can't afford another 580.
KiLLeRCLaM  +   1406d ago
Ill be playing this on ultra setting with my 3 x Nvidia 580GTX's ^^ one of the dedicated to physics..

Specs :
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z
Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler
Intel Core i7 2600K Quad 3,4 overclocked to 4,8
2x4GB Corsair Vengeance Ultra-performance DDR3 (1866MHz)
Tri SLI Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 overclocked ^^
ASUS VG236 23" 120Hz - 3D LCD Monitor

Show off.. Are you a bird or something? That wider view will be impossible to sneak up on you!
arjman  +   1406d ago
You have way too much money to spend on your rig...
Triggs  +   1406d ago
Oooh my God... I envy you bro.
superrey19  +   1406d ago
A gtx 580 dedicated for physX? Definitely overkill right there. I don't think bf3 even supports physx...
humbleopinion  +   1406d ago
plug out one of these 580GTX and the only difference you will see will be in the monthly electricity bill...
EditorAtGNG  +   1406d ago
Darn... my 5770 looks quite puny :(
pumpactionpimp  +   1405d ago
yeah I have dual 5770's, and I'm felling a little inadequate!
ProperFunked  +   1405d ago
same reason i went out and bout a 6970. was running 2 5770s, but was having driver error with crysis 2. so went out and bought my new one....still feel a bit inadequate, but i dont have another $350 to buy a second one.
EditorAtGNG  +   1405d ago
I love my graphic card but... c'mon.
electricshadow  +   1406d ago
Two 560's will work quite well for this game. I'm ready to go!
mrkeith  +   1406d ago
hmm hopefully my SLI GTX 460's Overclocked can hang with this game.
Zanarkand  +   1406d ago
Same setup here. Im sure they will since two of those are if not equal to one 580. As long as DICE keeps it SLI supported... You're not alone on this :P
Bladesfist  +   1406d ago
and crossfire please :) 2 x 6850's here
mrkeith  +   1406d ago
lol yeah just ordered my other GTX 460 Superclocked card from Amazon right now :) Will get it on Thursday. I got to learn how to do this whole SLI profiling stuff.
icarusorigin  +   1406d ago
I got 2 460s Superclocked
5% better then a stock 580!
I hope sli will work well with this game
mastahmind  +   1406d ago
my 5970 shouldnt have a problem :p
ProperFunked  +   1405d ago
im right there with you, but i dont know if we'll be getting avg.50=60fps on ultra. may have to run out and grab another one.=/ dont have the money for it.
mastahmind  +   1405d ago
have been thinking about that to..
specialy since they now said you will need 2 gtx580s..
xX_Altair_Xx  +   1406d ago
They werent lying when they said GTX 580 SLI would be an ideal set up.
Oldman100  +   1406d ago
I'll be able to max this out at 4k res no prob.

Windows XP 32bit
Geforce FX 5200 128mb
512mb ram upgraded to 1.5gb
Pentium 4 3.0ghz

But i have more friends on the magnavox odyssey, so im gonna go with that version instead.
rfowler30  +   1406d ago
man 20 gbs for this game, wow thats a lot. man glad my 2 gtx 580s will be able to handle this game at max settings.
rattletop  +   1406d ago
more or less same as bc2. not bad at all.
Huwmor  +   1406d ago
Does recommended mean it should max the game with playable fps >30? If so I'm glad I went for my 6950
Odion  +   1406d ago
no its med
ProperFunked  +   1405d ago
i would hardly consider 30fps playable, your reaction time will be drastically hindered, which im concerned with. do i want to be able to zero in quicker...or have something pretty to look at...
humbleopinion  +   1406d ago
Glad to see my 4 and a half years old PC can actually play this game on at least some level. The 8800 was a costly beast back then, but it still seems to hold up and pull its weight for quite long.
death2smoochie  +   1406d ago
My two 5970's should run this game quite well
ShadowJetX  +   1406d ago
Keyboard and Mouse? I got one if those!
SH0CKW4VE  +   1406d ago
i5 2500k Sandybridge & GTX 580 = Ultra = sorted.
ninjahunter  +   1405d ago
im not worried, their designing it to run well on the edge and my laptop matches it so yay for m14x!
HAF912  +   1405d ago
gtx 480. will prolly play fine. wondering if i should OC my card for this game.
Dark SeRaNADE  +   1405d ago
Hmm, I'm not sure if my laptop could run this? maybe on medium but if anyone can throw some of their PC knowledge my way and let me know, that would be awesome!

Intel i7 Sandy bridge processor
8GB Ram
8Cores running at 2.00GHz (Not Overclocked)
ATI Radeon HD 6770M 2gb

not sure if any more specs are needed? comes with headphone ports?
Voxelman  +   1405d ago
should run it well, much better than the console version anyway.
