Sony Quizzed About Why Monster Hunter Is On Nintendo 3DS And Not PlayStation Vita

Clearly the announcement that the Nintendo 3DS would be getting Monster Hunter Tri G and Monster Hunter 4 didn’t go down too well with Sony given it’s one of the biggest franchises in Japan. Here’s Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios response as to why the game isn’t appearing on Sony systems: (3DS, Monster Hunter 3G, PS Vita, Tokyo Game Show)

That is quite a sly answer

I'm sure the Vita will have a MH game of its own. It's only a matter of time. We're 3 or 4 months away from the PSV's release, so we're yet to see more titles.

Be assured, Monster Hunter will come to Vita. Why would Sony put the game in the montage at their Pre-TGS Briefing if there was not a MH game for Vita in existence.
My theory is that Tri-G will be exclusive to 3DS. Meanwhile Monster Hunter 4 will be multiplatform. With the Vita's networking and online capabilities, Capcom would be beyond foolish not to put MH4 on Vita.

I just know about this...
"Capcom's share price fell on Tuesday after it announced that the next version in the series, Monster Hunter 4, would be offered on Nintendo's 3DS handheld, which is not seen as a likely hit with hardcore gamers."

Didn't expect that Capcom's share fell for announcing MH on 3DS......... : |

MH is an amazing series, but the 3DS hasn't proven itself to be a platform where the core gamers flock to. I guess when it launches we'll know. Shareholders see Nintendo as the casual market and Sony and Microsoft as the hardcore market. And....well, MH is not a casual game.

I would add the lower Nintendo stock these past few months. I'm sure Capcom stock holders looked up Nintendo after this announcment and got spooked.

That's good. Always excited about 3DS announcements. Something to play.

Why the disagrees? Is he not allowed to like something Nintendo has made without being ridiculed?
Or are these Nintendo people mad about the lack of games? Either way, back off.
Beetey  +   1097d ago
In no way is he being ridiculed. Don't act like hitting disagree on a Nintendo fanboy's post is cyber bullying. He told his opinion, everyone else told theirs. Besides his comment isn't even relevant to the article.

What annoys me is how people who would never buy a monster hunter game anyway are so upset about it being on the 3ds instead of the Vita.
The only thing some of you seem to care about is watching the 3DS crash and burn, which is the last thing the game industry needs right now.

They don't live in japan where this game will sell millions on 3DS. Japan is loyal to Nintendo and Sony products and currently are buying the 3DS over psp. There is no logical explanation why they won't buy MH on 3DS. The only place sony can hope to get it is psp and I doubt that very much. Just a bunch of whiney fanboys wishing MH4 was on Vita...it's not.

This will have an affect on vita's launch, but I dont think its going to be a great deal either.

In cases like these, a new platform in my opinion usually trumps the release of a new game. People always want the newest thing around.

I am willing to bet anyone, that pre orders for the vita in japan as soon as its launch nears will soar with ease regardless of what else is happening in the world.

You can bank on that, with these fighting games and rpgs hitting the platform at launch and about 74 additional ips not too far off this launch the vita will fight off the wave, trust me.

Well the trailer is amazing with awesome sound effects. Nintendo just sold millions of 3DS's from that one game come release. :)

What about us in the U.S...who still have the PSP...and are waiting for MHF3!? A game that Japan got almost a year ago! I mean...I'm a little upset that they are now announcing games on the 3DS because none of my friends like or have a 3DS. I wouldn't even care about all these announcements if I could just have....MHF3...that's all my hunting group wants! We want to be in the same room again, screaming at each other as we take down wyverns and...*sigh* Oh well.

AdvanceWarsSgt  +   1097d ago
Why is this even an article? Anyone with 1/4 of a brain knows that MH4 will eventually be on Vita.
b-real  +   1097d ago
Just like how monster hunter tri is now also on the ps3?

Except MH actually has precedence of selling on Sony handhelds, so your point is completely invalid

But the original monster hunter was on the PS2, so it also has precedence of selling on Sony consoles, yet tri made no appearance on the PS3.

Point = valid.

Show me a PS MH that put up the numbers that MH put up on the PSP and your point will be validated.

Otherwise, my point still stands.
b-real  +   1096d ago
Pfft, when did this become about sales numbers?

You stated that MH4 will 100% be released on vita. As I correctly stated, historical release trends disagree with you.

Your wrong, move on with your life.

ouch seems pretty stupid of capcom for not announcing it for the vita as well. I would not be surprised if Nintendo struck some sort of deal with them.
Shnazzyone  +   1097d ago
Allow me to save people a click, his reply was.

"I don't know. You will have to ask Capcom," Hiroshi Kawano, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

What did people expect? Sony to admit Nintendo has the popular most platforms this gen and Capcom expects 3ds to be the handheld of next gen, not vita?
smashcrashbash  +   1096d ago
Wow. Where did you get that? How did you get 'Capcom expects 3DS to be the handheld of the next gen'? I am sure you have seen Streetfighter X Tekken for the VITA right?

So why isn't Capcom giving the 3DS that and not the VITA if they so think that it is going to be the most popular? Or Marvel Vs Capcom 3? Or the other four games they said they made exclusively for the VITA? One Monster Hunter game, that sells well only in Japan, and suddenly Capcom expects the 3DS to be the best and not the VITA?
