Toucharcade: jAggy Race [99¢] arrived on the App Store without much fanfare, but this kart-racing game is an impressive debut release from Swiss developers SevenOnly. The goal is to race your little kart around the track within the allotted time. That sounds pretty easy, except the tracks are totally crazy.
Taking inspiration from retro classics from the 80s and 90s, Jaggy Race! is a 3D kart based, gravity defying speed-platform reliant on quick reactions and mastery of speed. Today the game gets a price cut on the PlayStation Store.
STP: jAggy Race (their capitalization, not ours) isn’t the game we were expecting it to be. It’s probably not the game that most other people would expect either, if you’re judging it by its appearance. Pocket Gamer: Kart racers are not renowned for being the most innovative titles. They tend to adhere to a formulaic mixture of creative weaponry, cartoon characters, and crazy power slides.
So, it’s refreshing to see someone put a different spin on a tired genre, shunning tradition and, indeed, gravity.
