How to Become a Video Game Tester: G4U

G4 continues its week-long look at how to get a job in the industry by detailing the role of a video game tester. Tips like that people don't think of include demonstrating your verbal and written skills to explain bugs to the team and avoiding scams. There are many out there trying to prey on naive video game tester wannabes. (Dev, Industry, PC, PS Vita, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

They should also warn people that game testing is sh*t work and it will ruin your love of gaming.

“Testing is hard work and can often be tedious,” Roper points out. “Someone who expects to just play video games all day will be disappointed. Someone who realizes that testing is a serious job, with high expectations, will be much more successful.”

Video game testing start as fun but it becomes a painful process.

I was taking up Simulation&Game Development @ wake tech one of the courses require to you to test your games. Not to mention you had to present your game in front of the class. If you had one bug in it you would be given a zero.
I had to spend hours testing a game for bugs and glitches, the programmer had to constantly update the game which was also a pain on his end.
