A sandbox adventure filled with rabid zombies and set on a tropical island? Approach with caution and an open mind. Don't forget to have fun.
If you have a friend to play with, it's definitely worth it. If not, you'll have a lonely experience or be raging at random people who will wander off. Forget all the "immersion" reviewers want. This game is about having fun. I'm fine with the graphical glitch or two.
Thats my only complaint, I love a good co-op game, but most of my friends never buy early. I'm happy to play solo in the meantime but this game doesn't feel catered to that. Solo it's a bit like too human at times, it's fine for the most part. But then you hit a mission where you will just die repeatedly regardless your weapons. And maybe the reach is a little low. Other than that great game
I am enjoying my solo experience so far. I know someone who may be picking it this week. Can't wait to bust up some zombies with a bro.
i wanted what we saw with the family trailer.. obviously this game is not... havent played it.. but its obvious. this is not the horror game that i was looking for...
After playing this game for several days, both in multiplayer and in solo campaign, i must agree. Looking back at the very first trailer they released for this is truly a different vibe
and thats why you dont judge games from trailers, trailers always make the game look better than it is.
I disagree with the score and most of the comments, im playing through on co-op with on of my friends and as far as it goes an open world zombie RPG is just awesome, theyve really nailed the survival aspect with weapons breaking and stamina and how tough the zombies eventually become i.e flaming infected! I suppose it worked in y favour that i thought the initial trailer was meh and the game still captures that dire dark feeling, A guy asks you to kill his family ffs.....if you need to be able to kill a child zombie for a game to be "emotionally impactful" then you need to get your prioritities sorted.
I'll play Dead Island someday when it has been properly patched. My friend bought the day and said it's very buggy. No interested in playing now with the bugs as part of the "experience". Then again, zombie bugs are supposed to be part of the game.
I'd give it a 9/10 for my experience. I haven't come across any glitches with quests not working or not continuing from the save point. The only issue with it is texture pop-in. However, it only occurs when I load a different area. After it loads, I don't have any issues. On PS3 too.
