Gematsu: "The oft-rumored EA and Starbreeze Syndicate is real. A description and set of screenshots were put up on the EA Origin store tonight, but were quickly removed. Not before the internet could grab hold of it, however."
Wow,another classic franchise gets ruined.
I'm not so sure about that. One of the points in the description of the game is four player coop. Could be something like borderlands but with a syndicate touch. I loved the original and hope starbreeze can do it justice.
If you do some research, you would know that starbreeze isn't a company that produces generic FPS titles. It's soo awesome to see a Syndicate title.
*Blinks* Another FPS... ... ... ... How many is that now? I think it's about 20 to many.
Please no.. not another FPS. If not a strategy game like the first, at least let it be a 3rd person shooter. EDIT.... never mind... "Visceral FPS Experience: Utilize an upgradable arsenal of futuristic weapons, armor and gear to annihilate your enemies and harvest their chip technology for personal advancement and sinister corporate greed." Yep ... FPS. Another franchise down the drain.
Before seeing your comment, I had the same thought and was about to post a similar comment. Seems like this generation has been dominated by the FPS genre.
This gen has been SUPERSATURATED with FPS. Not that there's anything wrong with this genre, or having may choices, but it's because everyone wants to ride the same wave meaning very little (if any at all) innovation is going to take place. ...and for that I appreciate those other companies that decided to take a risk and come up with unique stuff like Heavy Rain or others who tried to attract a very niche market of gamers with games such as Demon's Souls. I just hope to see less FPS games next gen.
Yes, it is another FPS, and I agree with your viewpoints pn the over saturation of the genre, however there are a few developers who do thing differently with the FPS genre, and Starbreeze is one of them. DOnt know who they are? They're only a developer who made titles like Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness. Both of thos games were FPS, but were completely different to conventional FPS standards, that they turned out to be great games, and I for one have hope for this.
Played both The Darkness and Chronicles of Riddick. Very good games indeed. I just hope devs can keep the productivity up instead of doing similar stuff as other game devs.
Yeah, really. :( The only quality TPS is Gears Of War Quantum Theory MWAHAHAHAHAH, Army Of Two sucks and Uncharted (that is awesome) is not a TPS I mean, I'm not bashing the game, I wish it will turn out great whatever it is. Just pointing out the lack of quality TPS
I don't know what you guys are talking about. What is so bad about FPS. Its more realistic view point than 3rd person and its a great experience. Its never a negative thing about a game due to first person. Want RTS, and RPGs then uh go play them.
Well considering Syndicate was a strategy game to start off with its a pretty big let down for me at least. And there's already enough FPS games coming out/available already.
Problem is, EVERYONE is using FPS. There is almost no diversity in the industry anymore. And just f.y.i. I prefer Action games like DMC and NG, and fighting games... BlazBlue standing as my favorite. I like some of the idea's the west comes up with. But I would like to see more genre's used by them.
Starbreeze gives me hope that this will be more than a run of the mill FPS. They always layer on a lot of exploration and atmosphere to their games.
exactly my thoughts. people are throwing this game under the bus way to soon. their work on Riddick is a great example at how this game could be amazing.
Original content vs re-made content are 2 different things.
It all sounds very Deus Ex-like.
Yes it does but looks like they are gonna Muck it up in hopes of creating yet another COD clone.
What the hell is Syndicate?
Aside from being too worried about bucking the current trend, devs likely don't want to risk presenting a "simple" game on a disc. A game like this should be a RTS at least.
They're making THAT into an FPS? Grrr. It could very well be an RTS, or I think it would work better as an isometric game. NOT a twin-stick shooter, but isometric view with some RPG and stealth elements. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Wonder what the reboot looks like.
Its sad that looking a the crowd AI because the reactions look way better than anything done today. @kramun: The automatic reaction of wanting as something other than a FPS would be worth something.
@Son_Lee Why should we give a shit about your opinion on the game when you don't even know what Syndicate is? The game was made when you were probably swimming around in your fathers testicles. Go educate yourself, and then come back and discuss the game. EDIT:@Godmars290 I agree, it's not the direction I would like to see the series go in, and alarm bells are ringing. I don't agree with Son_Lee coming into a topic to discuss it with the line.... 'What the hell is Syndicate? ' I mean, if you don't know what the game is, why even bother saying it? We are on the internet, it's not too hard to find out.
"The game was made when you were probably swimming around in your fathers testicles." My God that's quite straight to the point.
Whoa! i had to replay the 8:06 mark several times to hear that evil nerd laugh!!
"We might as well go ahead and blow it up Ahuh ahuh mahuh"!
yet another slightly off genre game being rebooted into another run of the mill generic FPS! Oh boy i just can't wait to buy Zombie DLC for this!
Syndicate remade using today's tech would be awesome as it would expand the isometric real-time tactical game that it is....maybe allow you to switch to FPS view for combat but retain the tactical part.
yessss, i was waiting to see what Starbreeze was up to. they are a great dev team, so im sure this game will be amazing.
What's next GoW and Mario cross over? Gamers don't like change they want originality. Not another shooter
sounds really cool. lol
I have never played a syndicate game. time to go on a historical journey.
oh I forgot games can't be real time tactical and be successful any more. cheers console market for killing variety
I wouldn't blame consoles specifically. I would say it's more Call of Duty that killed it. If it's not an FPS, it won't sell mentality.
Blame EA for being greedy and wanting to cash in on the fps market
PirateThom Well, I would say if every damn game would not have to come to the consoles too, this could have been rts.. Just look the "real" strategy-game sequels like starcraft2 or Civilization V, I don't see them on consoles. But I agree with your comment too, that's propably the main reason.
Syndicate rocked, hope they don't mess this up! I'll reserve judgement until it's released.
I agree, but come on, all of the fans of the serie have been waiting a true sequel to the original games, not a fps game... So it's more than dissapointing.
Don't you dare ruin Syndicate! *waves finger*
I loved Syndicate!! I was so excited when I saw this title of this story...then I found out they changed it into a bloody FPS!!! For fcuks sake!!! They f'd up Front Mission by turning it into an FPS already! Now this <sigh>...
... First U.F.O., and now Syndicate? We have enough fps-games, damn.. Give us new startegy sequels. I'm not doubting the quality of the new games, but come on, fans of these series ARE PC gamers who fell in love with the classic strategy-games, and all have been dying to get new sequels that make justice to the originals.. and now we get fps-games to please CoD-kids and similars... sadface.
WOW!! I love Deus Ex Human Revolution but the syndicate looks just as good, I may pre-order this game if the gameplay is as Awesome as the graphics and blade runner style looks.
I would have liked Deus EX much more if it would have been 100% TPS.
I still play this on my Amiga I hope they will keep all the body upgrades? You could upgrade team eyes, brain, muscle and a few other bits on the original...... also wonder if the marks team cheat will still work?
I played first Syndicate on Amiga-500 too, that, and UFO enemy unknown, and Dune 2 were my favourite games when I was kid. I finished all of them again with Dos-Box few years back, and they are still amazing games, timeless classics. When I first heard two of these were going to get new sequels, I was pumpped, but very dissapointed when I heard they were going to be fps. That is not what I think when I hear title "Syndicate", or XCoM. I really hope the game will feature all the settings and details from the original games, just like you stated. Syndicate has great setting, and I will propably play this game, and I'm really hoping it will turn out great, but I just can't get over the fact they are making an fps...
I'm no longer interested in this game. I don't even know why I bothered to hope. This isn't syndicate, this is a different game with a beloved label on it to fool people into buying.
XCOM, now syndicate, when will these companies stop ruining the games myself and a great deal of others love :(
Im so pumped, this game will be soo awesome with starbreeze behind it
ffs, so much shooting, is there any game that doesnt have guns coming out this year apart from skyrim?
Another FPS not interested
After hours on end battling for control of the Atlantic Accelerator in the orginal on my Amiga 1200 I was excited to see a new Syndicate title, then dissappointed to see it was going to be another FPS. If i want FPS i will play BF3 thanks very much. Or I could choose any one of hundreds of other titles out there. What I do want is something different that can't be pigeonholed so easily. Might have even been better as a MOBA (lol/hon/dota) title - that could have worked slightly better, but FPS, boring.
