Crash Bandicoot creator ruminates on the old days

Don't be surprised if you see America's Favorite Marsupial (after Kangaroo Jack) tooling around on the highways and byways of this great land. That's right: Crash Bandicoot is old enough to get his learner's permit.

Oh Crash how my heart yearns for thee....ND please, please return to the platform genre and give Sony a true mascot.

All we have now is LBP and R&C, these are great franchises, yet IMO they don't compare to Crash. This gen has seen a decrease in platform games one of the best genres in the good PS1 days and personally my favourite.

I am close to 30 years and have a good over 20 years of gaming experience under my belt. As time goes by it seems gaming as a whole has become an entirely different creature, not the lovable peaceful friend we once knew, intimately reminiscing about the joys of our imagination. Instead has been transformed into the bullish, competitive asshole which has hit too close to home.

Oh how I miss the good old days...Thank you Crash, u truly were the magnum opus of what gaming should have been, playful, imaginative and downright fun...

Couldn't have said it any better

<Clicks Agree over and over again...oh it only works once>

I wish ND would buy Spyro aswell

They should open a sister studio so they can start on Jak, Crash, Spyro or New IP while ND finish off Uncharted then the sister studio would move up the game they've started to ND to finish off as they work on an Uncharted game..........you get the point

I know their one franchise per console but it wouldn't hurt.

There are tons of platformers on XBLA, PSN and Wii. You just have to keep your eye's peeled.

lizard812884609d ago

Indeed, the Wii seems to have alot of them, oddly.

Like.. I must have pushed "Agree" a hundred times...

Dear old Crash and friends...my favourite platformer series. However, the best of Crash is from the ND days, and now the Crash Bandicoot series is whithering, thanks to Activision and the other developers.

Mike_Tha_Hero4609d ago

I had a dream I was playing this too...

Crash will always have a spot in video game history, but Naughty Dog knows when to stop. That whole concept of character design ran dry, and you see what happened to Sonic when SEGA kept on with his series.

Droid Control4609d ago

Ctash 1 was up there with Mario

lizard812884609d ago (Edited 4609d ago )

Man, I bought all of those games back in the day. Those were some good times. Its sad to see the Sony mascots fall. ;_;
Crash, Spyro, and Lara Croft. Luckily, Lara rebounded as of late, and the Twisted Metal Series is still running strong, but Crash and Spyro...

Crash Team Racing was the shit too.

ShaunCameron4609d ago

I have a bad feeling that Ratchet & Clank just might be next. Notice the marginal fanfare for All 4 One?

Quagmire4609d ago

Its sad to see how there are millions of comments on R3 articles, yet hardly anything for Ratchet. I'm afraid after All 4 One, Ratchet's gone, and no one seems to realise that this is probably his last farewell.

Insomniac have Overstrike to makem then possibly another new franchise for NexGen consoles.

1996 Voted as ‘Best Year in Gaming’ by UK Public

Have you ever wondered what the best year in gaming was? Well wonder no more! The British public have had their say, and voted for 1996.

Limitedtimestruggle586d ago

I have some many fond memories as a 10 year old gamer from back then! The best of times!

Dfooster586d ago

Yeah that is a good choice. Great times

Snakeeater25586d ago

Lol Nintendo 64 … talk about a shitty year for gaming

Old McGroin586d ago

The N64 was amazing at the time, how old are you, 12?

CobraKai586d ago

Mario 64, Mario Kart, WaveRace. They’re prolly too young to appreciate em. My kids love the N64.

Terry_B586d ago

No..1996 was not a good start for the N64. The system had a lousy start in comparison to the SNES, Playstation and probably even the Sega Saturn.

CobraKai586d ago

So…. Nevermind the first time Resident Evil or Tomb Raider was released, a damn near arcade perfect port of Tekken 2, Quake, Wipeout, Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario RPG, Nights, Panzer Dragoon Zwei? It’s shitty cuz the old N64 is it?

BrainSyphoned586d ago (Edited 586d ago )

More of a 97 person myself.
FF7, Symphony of the Night, Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, Dynasty Warriors, Diablo, Fallout, Tomb Raider 2, Mega Man Legends, GoldenEye, Turok, Wing Commander Prophecy, Star Fox 64, Einhander, Tobal 2, Bushido Blade, Colony Wars, Ultima Online. Was a great year to start working at Funcoland.

You beat me to it. I loved both years, but 97 was one of my favorite years ever.

Marcello586d ago

2013 was a good year too. Dead Space 3, The Last of Us, GTA5, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Tomb Raider reboot, Bioshock Infinite, Batman: Arkham Origins, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Grid 2 & more.

Limitedtimestruggle585d ago

Dead Space 3? That game only deserves to be on rock-bottom lists. In my honest opinion.

Marcello585d ago

Its is very Marmite that game but to me it was only that love story nonsense that was bad, really bad.
