Why Sony delayed PS Vita in the West (El33tonline)

Tom at El33tonline writes:

"Sony has denied all reports of a delay for the PS Vita, but it’s clear that the company was originally targeting a holiday 2011 launch in as many Western territories as possible. This is the time of year when people are more willing than usual to part with their hard-earned cash, and so a shiny new Sony portable on store shelves would seem like an enticing Christmas present proposition to many.

Why then did Sony push back the PS Vita to early 2012 in the West? It’s a question I’ve mulled over many times while resigning myself to the fact that I won’t be able to purchase a PSV this year."

Wouldn't it be nice if game released worldwide at the same time it wouldn't be hard just saying

Frenza2506d ago

Yeah, I really dislike the fact that US gets games usually 2-3 days before all the countries in EU. It's normally illegal in EU to get the games the same day as US because the release day isn't worldwide, BUT it´s totally legal to whacts someone thats doing a LP of the game on youtube...

I wish I could import.. but would that even work with the whole "region code" or whatever it is...?

nyobzoo2506d ago

yes, as far as I know, Vita is region free like the PSP

Canary2506d ago

That's correct. The Vita is region-free.

And as far back as I can remember, the Vita's release date was ALWAYS Q4 2011 for Japan, and Q1-Q2 2012 for NA/EU.

Infernostew2506d ago

It's pretty hard to delay something when there wasn't a concrete release date.

stevenhiggster2506d ago

Was just about to say the exact same thing.

Good article. It was well thought out.

Ddouble2506d ago

Good article. Nothing worse than a lacking line up for launch.
