Bethblog: Today we’ve got some great news for iOS fans. On the heels of recent updates (v 2.1) for both Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum & DOOM Classic, we’ve also released the 2.1 source code for both titles!
Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Doom is eternal… well at least as far as ports are concerned. Pretty much since the original game’s inception all the way back in 1993 modders and amateur programmers have attempted to see what kind of weird and wacky devices can ‘run Doom‘. And that’s exactly what we want to celebrate in this week’s Top 10. So why not take a break from fighting back the forces of hell and join us for a look at the Top 10 Weird Doom Ports!"
Whilst the FPS genre has since had a tonne of fantastic franchises, such as Quake, Unreal and Serious Sam, Doom remains at the top of the pile, and has one of the best comeback stories in video game history. Doom is almost 30 years running, and has even bled into other mediums such as feature films and novels. As it has been going for so long, there have been a large number of entries in the series, and there are probably a few you never played. This is every Doom game ever.
From PSU: "If you ask me (not that you did), every single platform made should have a port of DOOM Classic on it. Yes, everything from watches to microwaves have been had one port or another of id Software’s genre defining classic, but it’s really the menagerie of home consoles and mobile devices that need the port more than most – not least because it inarguably reminds people what a real FPS looks and plays like when not subjected to the whims of overly linear design and a nauseating amount of cutscenes."
